Love Language
wolfstar microfic | 118 words
“Why do you keep up with this?” Sirius asks. Tears streak his cheeks and blood stains his knuckles. He punched a wall in anger.
Remus ponders.
'For the same reason that, when I tell you I love you, I do it in Welsh.
Because my Ma held my hand and kissed my forehead and told me, dw i'n dy garu di.
Your mother shoved you against a wall and spoke in tongues of hatred.
I see the language love has been taught to you.
I take you whole and flawed as you are,
So you'll learn love can be Welsh too.'
Remus kisses Sirius’ knuckles and tells him none of this.
“Because I love you, you rabid thing.”
Prompt 18 - Bed Sharing
@wolfstarmicrofic May 18, word count 757
Second part of Prompt 10 - Only One Bed/Room
He hadn’t known Sirius had tattoos. Oh gods, how was he going to survive two nights in the same bed as him? He’d been rude and he knew it. Too many drinks and his tongue had become venomous.
By the time he’d calmed himself, Sirius had fallen asleep. His soft snores filled the quiet room. He slipped under the covers and laid back into his pillow. Damn that bed was comfy. It took him minutes to fall asleep.
He dreamed of Sirius and his bare chest and what he wanted to do to Sirius and his bare chest. He was unceremoniously pulled from his happy dreams when Sirius tried to move away from him. He’d opened his eyes and found himself much too close to Sirius. Those icy blue eyes penetrated his own. He’d been dreaming about them all night, so he was a bit slow realising he was awake.
“Sorry, I must have rolled in my sleep.” Sirius huffed a nervous laugh. That was when Remus realised their legs were tangled together and Sirius was practically on his chest. He also became aware of something else that had woken up.
Afraid that Sirius might accidentally knock into it and be offended, Remus yanked his legs free and ran into the bathroom, locking it behind him.
He held his head in his hands. He took a cold shower and spotted his bag that he’d left in the bathroom last night. He got out the clothes he’d be wearing to the conference, put them on and unlocked the bathroom door.
Sirius was lying on the bed, playing a game on his phone. He ignored Remus. Remus felt a pang of panic race through him. Had Sirius felt what was going on under the covers? Was he annoyed at Remus? Remus couldn’t take it, and grabbing his wallet, laptop and phone, he left the room to find breakfast.
The conference hadn’t been that bad. He’d made notes on a few things that could be implemented immediately at the company and a few that could slowly be rolled out. All in all, the trip had been worth it in Remus’s opinion. He didn’t know what Sirius had written down, but he’d been scribbling in a notebook all day.
“I really fancy something greasy and disgusting,” Sirius said as they packed their things away. He rubbed his hand and made a little whimpering noise in the back of his throat. Remus nearly died. Sirius continued rubbing his hand, unaware of Remus’s distress. Remus assumed Sirius’s hand had cramped from all the writing he’d done that day. Remus wanted nothing more than to take Sirius’s hand and massage it for him. “So what do you think? You okay with that?” Remus hadn’t heard a word Sirius had been saying.
“Huh?”
“Can we just order burgers or something to the room? I really don’t want to sit in a restaurant,” Sirius repeated.
“Oh, yeah, sure, sounds good.” Remus panicked, he’d just agreed to spend even more time in that room with Sirius. He couldn’t wait until he was back in his own bed.
Sirius had made a good call. They ate their meals in comfortable silence while they watched fail videos on YouTube.
Sirius started searching for his favourite videos to show Remus and Remus began to relax a bit. He showed Sirius some of the clips he found hilarious, and they ended up sitting back on the bed laughing at an old skit about fork handles.
Sirius leant over the side of the bed and pulled out a cheap bottle of whisky. He shook it at Remus.
“Can I tempt you?” Remus felt his heart stutter and nodded. Sirius beamed at him and unscrewed the cap, taking a long swig before passing it to Remus.
They drank far too much of the whisky. Sirius was rolling around on the bed giggling uncontrollably at Eddie Izzard’s Star Wars Cantina story played out with lego and Remus was goon grinning at him.
“What are you grinning at?” Sirius slurred, pointing accusingly at Remus.
“You,” Remus stuck his tongue out, Sirius pounced. Suddenly, Sirius was on him, his teeth carefully nipping Remus’s outstretched tongue. His drunken brain had to catch up with what had just happened, but once he did, he flipped Sirius onto the mattress and towered over him, before leaning closer and sloppily kissing him on his lips and slowly making his way to those tattoos.
They woke up with banging headaches, with entangled limbs again. But this time Remus didn’t run away.

Remus walked his way to McGonagall’s office feeling every footfall as he went. He was already knackered from the full moon earlier that week, but on top of things Sirius and Peter had thrown a bender the night before, importing as much contraband firewhiskey they could supply in order to turn the Gryffindor common room into a disco dance hall.
Their prefect meeting couldn't be helped, if not now transformed into its own mode of punishment as it was McGonagall herself who had to break up the party, padding her way into the common room in her night robes. Even Sirius cowered as she laid eyes on her very own Head Boy and Girl in the middle of the dance floor grinding away like it was some wizarding Studio 54.
First encounter - a wolfstar microfic
@wolfstarmicrofic - April 10: Sleeping Draught- Words: 740
When they sat down at lunch, Dumbledore clinked his glass and cleared his throat. “I believe, professor Slugghorn has something to say.”
Professor Slugghorn stood up. “Quite. A large quantity of Sleeping Draught has been stolen from my personal stock. I would like you all to keep your eyes open and be careful. If any pranksters out there would come to your senses and realise this is not funny, they can come see me in my office and I promise we can sort this out undramatically.”
“Why did he look at us?” Sirius scoffed. “That’s not fair.”
“I’m sure it’s Snivellus”, James agreed.
Although Snivellus was probably still mad after last week’s incident, Remus wasn’t so sure. “Why would he steal a potion? It’s literally what he’s best at.”
“Well, I guess there’s only one way to find out.” James pointedly raised his eyebrows.
Now in their third year, fitting all of them under James' Invisibility cloak was not as easy as it had been. But after having spent Herbology and Divination arguing through whispers and notes, it was clear that no one wanted to miss out. It turned out being doable, if not very practical.
They were approaching the Slytherin Dungeon when they rounded a corner and almost walked into Bellatrix Black. They pressed to the wall, stepping on each other’s feet, struggling to remain silent. As soon as she was gone James started to move again.
“Wait”, Sirius demanded, “where was she heading?”
“The elves, I think. What does it matter? Let’s get to Snivellus.”
“Forget about him! What if it’s Bella who has the Sleeping Draught? That bag of hers looked heavy enough for a few vials.”
“If she’s heading for the elves, then she might put it in everyone’s food,” Remus agreed.
“She’s not one for pranks”, Sirius stated solemnly, “if it is her, then there’s something much more sinister going on.”
“Let’s go tell McGonagall,” Remus suggested.
“Let’s go stop her!“ James said.
“I’m not sure that’s such a good idea,” Sirius hesitated, “she knows some really nasty spells.”
"What harm can it do to follow? She won’t see us under the cloak," James argued.
Remus got the distinct impression that James and Sirius for once in their life were not on the same page. James was still a child chasing an exciting spy-mission while Remus understood Sirius' sudden hesitancy all too well. It felt like the last months' rumors, the news that every adult was so secretive yet obviously concerned about, was suddenly real befor them.
Sirius shifted on his feet and looked queasy. James put a hand on his shoulder.
"Look, I get it if you don't want to go against your own cousin. That’s fine. Maybe you and Peter can stay here and keep watch?"
Sirius gave him a murderous glare and jerked forward. They had no choice but to follow, if they didn't want to lose the cover of the cloak.
“Slow down!” James whispered, “I’m sorry! I would never question your loyalty.”
“Well, you just made that very clear”, Sirius mumbled sarcastically without slowing down at all.
They entered the low doorless opening into the kitchens and stumbled right upon Bellatrix.
“Who’s there?” Her voice rang clear and cold over the rattle from the elves. She slowly pointed her wand around her in the room.
Remus felt Sirius slip away and before he managed to grab his wrist he was out of the cloak grabbing Bellatrix's bag. He didn't have time to get back to them, though. The same second Bellatrix saw her bag missing and shrieked, Sirius dived into a storage room with the door ajar.
Remus felt James' breath hitch beside him and Peter's hand tremble in his own.
“You were right”, James breathed, “someone ought to go tell McGonagall, or Dumbledore.”
They could creep back to the corridor and let one of them run after help. But what would happen before that help arrived? Remus didn’t know what to do if he stayed, he just know he had to be here.
“I’m not leaving him.”
They both turned to look at Peter.
“B-but if I go b-back without the cloak I m-might run in to someone. Alone. And be seen.”
“Very well then.” James concluded and they crept together towards Sirius, careful not to make a sound.
Remus couldn’t shake the feeling of this being the beginning of something more. Something he didn’t like, but he decided then and there he would not back down from it. He could only aspire to be as brave as Sirius or James. But he would follow his friends wherever it took him.
They fell into silence and it took Remus a while to realize Sirius had tears tracking down his cheeks. He wiped them away, not even trying to conceal the fact.
“I want to stay here forever,” Sirius said in a shaky voice. “But I can’t.”
“I know,” Remus whispered, pulling him closer and kissing his black hair. “I know, baby.”
Sirius hiccupped. “Say that again.”
“What?”
“What you just said.”
“I know?”
“Baby,” Sirius whispered.
If it was possible, Remus squeezed him even tighter. “I know, baby. I love you so much. We have to go home, but we are going together. We’ll do it all together, yeah?”
