#remus: ask

Not many people knew it, but Sirius Black was actually the devil himself. Sent to this earth to tempt Remus every day, despite the fact that both should know better. Remus was concerned by how he found himself betraying his own values just to spend more time with Sirius. At the same time he wasn’t surprised that it happened. Anyone would do the same in Remus’ position. You didn’t have Sirius Black ask for a kiss and ‘not’ kiss him.

“You’re terrible,” Remus said, very fondly. How he managed to cram so much love into an accusation, nobody knew. “You should be kissing her, not me.” Luckily Remus was equally terrible when he cupped Sirius’ face and gently made him raise his head a little before Remus covered his lips with his own. He closed his eyes and enjoyed this feeling of their lips touching, before he gently broke the kiss and rested his forehead against Sirius’. 

“I’m glad that you kiss me and not her though,” Remus whispered, even though he had no idea what was going on here between them. Why Sirius kept wanting him but started dating again after Mary. It made no sense to Remus and he was actually quite hurt, but kissing Sirius always made everything better until the reality kicked back in again whenever they parted. He wanted to ask what am I to you? but it would ruin the moment.

Remus exhaled a bit shakily and set his book down. He frowned for a moment, wetted his lips and then peered up at Sirius. "I think I do. I know it's stupid. A werewolf can try as hard they want, it doesn't matter if they're nice or not. I know that. But I feel like..I can maybe make things a little bit easier for myself. I feel better knowing nobody is afraid of me."

Even though people were not aware that they were talking to and interacted with a werewolf, Remus knew that 'if' they knew, they'd be terrified. And so he subconsciously perfected the art of being the tallest in the room while simultanously blending into the decoration or carrying himself as non-threateningly as possible. He had also perfected the art of being a darling to absolutely everyone, unless they insulted him first.

And he was well aware that all of this work was for nothing but he couldn't stop. He himself simply felt more comfortable this way. It was the hardest the few days before a full moon, when he was easily agitated and uncharacteristically cruel, but these days served as a reminder that he had a lot to hide.

"you think i'm pretty?"

Was he missing something here? Was this..a trap? A joke? It could be, but Regulus sounded vulnerable and Remus decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. "...Yes? I don't know anyone who thinks you're not." There was something about the Black's look, something that both brothers had. A sophisticated kind of beauty that you just had to be born with, probably. "Don't you see how people look at you?"

“I’ve tried so many times to think of a new way to say it, and it’s still I love you.” (james, for remus)

James made it sound as if he needed something better than 'I love you'. As if those words weren't already enough to almost do Remus in, everytime he heard them. His heart wasn't made to accept such unabashed adoration by someone who was simply divine and threatened to just give up on him everytime it skipped a beat. Words were truly powerful. Surely James must be aware that they were more than enough to convey how he felt? They certainly made Remus grin like a fool, his cheeks on fire and brown eyes alight. "Are you kidding me? Don't hurt your pretty head, Prongs. You don't need to come up with a new way to say it. And as you know, I love you too."

“I would rather spend one lifetime with you, than face all the ages of this world alone.”

Remus, who had a lapful of Sirius, because Remus had pulled him into said lap a few moments prior with a besotted smile, rested one arm around Sirius' waist and stroked his palm over Sirius' cheek. Remus was a big supporter of the idea that Sirius' facial features should be admired at least once every day. Luckily he was very good that. He saw the worry and affection in his lover's eyes, the concerned brow, and took Sirius' hand to press a kiss to his palm. "Considering the way you and I live, that won't be a very long lifetime. But no matter how long our lives may last, I too would not want to spend time in this world without you." Sirius gave Remus the ability to be hopeful that happiness may be available to someone like Remus too.

Tonks @ Remus: “ i'm here, okay? “

He offered her a tired, grateful smile. "Thank you." Everyone in the Order walked on eggshells around each other currently, because everyone was very close to just snapping. "I made some tea, want a cuppa? What we all need is a quiet moment and to calm down. Just don't tell anybody I said that." The worst thing to tell a stressed person was to 'calm down'.

“ you woke up screaming. “ -sirius

Remus' heart was still hammering in his chest like a crazed hummingbird. He noted that he was soaked in sweat and he stared at Sirius as if he were a ghost. "I did?" he asked breathlessly, still reeling from the shock and feeling embarrassed about it at the same time. He rubbed his hands over his face and then looked to his right where he kept a glass of water on his nightstand. He reached for it and took a few generous gulps. His throat was parched. No wonder, after the screaming.

"Oh fuck, did I wake the others too?" he whispered, his hand reaching out to grab Sirius' arm. It was quiet in the room, beyond the curtains of Remus' bed, so he must have only woken Sirius. He exhaled in relief and gently tugged Sirius closer. "I know I'm covered in sweat but lay down with me." He was in thorough need of good cuddling right now.

“ i'll be there when you wake up. “ -newt to remus

"But you have to really be there when I wake up.." Remus murmured tiredly. He pulled the blanket further up his chin, brow furrowed as he felt sleep overtake him. There was so much he wanted to ask Newt, and a part of him feared that all of this had just been a dream. That Newt would be gone by the time he woke up. It would be too good to be true after all, meeting a man who not only tolerated Remus but even advocated for him, and Newt was so old and mysterious, he felt a bit like a specter. "I'll be really cross with you if you're not."
