What drew you to rping this character?
Honestly? It was that post about James casting engorgio on that spider to scare Sirius. Because I was already playing Remus with this fucking loser and since it was 1x1 we had to take up the roles of the others too. So I started playing James and I already liked him because we're really very similar, and eventually made a blog for him to bug her Severus.
What’s the hardest thing for you to write?
Smut. I hardly ever do because most of the time people aren't comfortable with writing nsfw with a minor, but the few times it's happened or I've written it in fics, it's just so so unbelievably awkward. Not only do I not have any experience with that kind of thing, but I'm honestly not sure I'm even sexual at all. I keep wondering if I'm asexual and the fact that I couldn't care less about sex just makes smut really really awkward. Because I don't know what in the world would be considered sexy because all sex in general is just. Repulsing to me. And trying to write it as a good thing just. Doesn't work for me. At all.
What’s your favorite thing about rping a canon character?
I really enjoy the fact that there's already so much canon surrounding him. And the fact that you can look deeper at their actions and figure out how they tick. With an oc, you have to come up with all of that from scratch, and don't always think of things you might with a canon character. And besides that, people are more willing to play with a canon character.
Do you think about your threads and your character when you aren’t roleplaying? How and for how long on average?
Oh god. Why did this have to be one of the questions. Uugh. Yes, I do. Not really about James in general, but with certain threads/relationships. Especially if it's something angsty. I'll think of how that angst might play out in the worst way possible. And usually a few hours total maybe? Usually I do before falling asleep because thinking of stories in my head has helped me get to sleep for as long as I can remember.
What do you dislike about roleplaying ships/romance?
Assumptions. Oh my god, assumptions. Whether it be assuming James and Lily (or with other characters in the past, just the canon couple) are together, even if they aren't playing Lily. Or people assuming my character would be romantically interested in theirs when they have no canon interactions whatsoever. This is literally my only problem with OCs. Is that sometimes they'll automatically assume it's totally fine. With canon characters it's (usually) a bit different because they would've interacted in the source material so there's at least something to build on, you know?
Who’s a roleplayer (or writer) you think you have learned a lot from?
Tbh there are far, far too many. I learn from everyone I write with, honestly, in some form or another. Whether it's what not to do or neat tricks, I learn from everyone.
