。✧。・゚ it’s that time of the year again were I , lalo , starts bothering you all again : What Classic fairytale could you see your oc/s being ( unfortunately ?) part of — what role would they play? ( are they the princess in the tower? the dues ex machina fairy god mother? etc etc ) — & if there is any, is there a subversion to the ‘trope’ , did red ridding hood have a gun all along?
Sooo this question has been derailing my life for a couple of days now, lol.
Easiest one out of the park:
Not... many of my OCs have fairytale compatability. Ritsu def doesn't, though I'd argue that Leo might fit Hänsel and Gretel if one of the kids died. And if the Witch was their mother... Sergey most likely might fit the OG Snow Queen story, especially if we set Asuna as the protagonist and him as the boy that had an ice shard in his heart. Tho Leo could also fill the spot of protagonist in that story. I already did touch on the Mermaid AU with Ava and Lor, even if Lor himself also could easily fit the big bad wolf or huntsman. Carol has massive Alice in Wonderland energy and if I ever get more motivation I will draw that, she'd be an adorable Alice.
Now to the interesting Part: RENA (mild Hayarena under the cut)
All available sources at the bottom of the post
Rena especially in Reborn! Next-> has the big WITCH energy. She is the mischevious witch, she is the sorceress, she is the Fairy Godmother, working behind the scenes and granting wishes. Fairy godmothers are usually benevolent and help out of the goodness of their hearts and I see Rena as rather similar.
But I also really love the other picks I got for her: mainly a Doll/Puppet from the Nutcracker Ballet, a Dancer at the big party of the Toys, because I just adore that Ballet and Music and well Rena does still love ballet even if she barely dances anymore. I love the Idea of her as Sleeping Beauty because her father IS overprotective like that and only causes more harm in his pursuit of keeping her safe. The dragon protecting the castle would be a fairy Dimitri who's sole purpose is to keep the princess safe.
I just HAVE to throw in Red Riding Hood because Dera IS a wolf in Monster Tamer Tsuna and honestly as much as I think that this song fits LorAva better, I do also see it as Hayarena potential.
Now to my two favourite picks.
Romeo and Cinderella is a very particular flavor of romantic story. I will just leave the song here and say... I really really love that song.
And the last pick is the "naive Princess". When I was younger I had Soviet Cartoons play on repeat at home. I loved them and today too I think it's some wonderful animation. One in particular was a compilation of different little short stories. One of these stories was about a wonderful princess that went out on a day with horrible weather and got lost in the terrible forest. She was wonderful though. This is important. Eventually she comes upon a wonderful field and falls into a hole that is the entrance to a cannibals horrible layer who is already ready to eat the princess, but she was just too wonderful and touched his heart so he let her go and she returned home. The twist is that by the end the question is: well maybe it was the other way around? And it becomes a whole 180. The weather is amazing the forest is wonderful, but the princess is HORRENDOUS! She destroys the field, falls into the rather neat layer of the cannibal who is ready to eat her, but then doesn't, because the princess is just TOO HORRIBLE!!!! SHE DESTROYS THIS MANS WHOLE HOME and then walks back to her castle. The weather was wonderful, but the princess was horrible. Damn I hear the sound still ringing in my ears haha. Oh btw here is a youtube link lol I've also been watching the deep dives of this chanel especially about Midsommar bc I am a scaredy cat and will probably never watch the movie myself, and he goes really indepth about two pictures depicting two fairytales, both being about rather naive princesses that get lost in the woods. I think the vibe fits her.
And now for something special bc it came to me all of a sudden and I had to explore that option
Rena in either Reborn! Next-> or Reborn! Now! as Rapunzel.
While she wasn't ... stolen by an evil witch or anything I think the tower she is kept in because of her... birth? fits her rather well, more in Now! than in Next->. She was born an heiress, a princess so to speak and with it came abilities and powers and especially status that she just HAS. Bird in a golden cage and all that and it just... gave me this image of her locked away. Her parents, especially her father is very protective and her life is carefully dictated by her mother so the idea kinda checks out for me. In Next-> she flees from the tower herself, but in Now! She has more of an experience like Rapunzel in Disneys Tangled has, where she meets "the outside world" and learns of a different life, a different possibility for her. Idk man I had a lot of fun drawing these lol
this one is personal. Obviously since it's my self insert. And yes I cheated a bit by adding the genderfluid flag as well, but let's go step by step. Rena was my selfinsert back when I first started selfshipping and developed into much more. The heiress to a russian mafia family, a difficult relationship with her mother, a complicated relationship with her father and an adoration for the arts.
Now off to the personal part
I'm bisexual and genderfluid. It's something I don't talk that much about especially being genderfluid, because my situation is a bit difficult. My mother is very conservative. Even after almost 15 years I am still alone fighting for my relationship with my fiance. I have not talked to my mother about my genderidentity at all. Even if online and in personal circles I am out, my workspace and formal space with family will always be as my mask. To reflect that I have Rena eventually come to terms with her own genderidentity, cutting her hair short and switching to "Ren" as a name. I still feel scared of presenting masc. Especially with so much discourse online about masc identities that become just hating men radicalism. In any case, this is not about discourse.
When I first heard that you could... just be not heterosexual something opened up for me. Something comfortable. And with my gender identity it's a label I hold even more dear because no matter what, I am queer by the end of the day. And I hope that at some point I can fully realize myself and be proudly not just bisexual, but also genderfluid without feeling judged and or discriminated again. I want to smile when I talk about my fiance, I want to feel the happieness of being adressed by a name I picked for myself. I want to love myself.
Hello Lou! I hope things have been easier and the migraine has eased! If not, may it ease soon! For the ask meme you posted: Rena 1, Leo 2, Asuna 8, and Sergey 4!
Send me a character and a number to see how they accesoirize
This took some time but here we go! And: thank you so so much for sending something in! As much as it was a pain it was also a kinda nice experience! ^^ I hope you enjoy the outcome
1- Renas Bag and what's inside!
Rena is very practical. She either leaves the house with nothing but her wallet, phone and keys or she has everything on cue.
2- Leos phone with screensaver and background!
Leo loves his friends, Ser most of all of course. They also have an encrypted messenger and a specofoc app for their work (SETSU AND MAKIRA MENTION!!!)
4- Sergeys wallet and what's inside
The man has cards for anything and everything, from giftcards to stamp and reward cards you name it! Also never something he goes without is a picture of his most favourite people and-- ... some memories
8- Asunas favourite item
Sergey once made Asuna an omamori, a japanese lucky charm that he made himself with the word "Fortuna" on it, originally as a lucky charm for the volleyball matches. Her other favopurite item is a scrunchy that Em made for her specifically. In fact it would become a tradition for Em to make scrunchies for Asuna!

Ooooh you opened a pandoras box here, Melon, oh boy (I will copy paste some describtions from other sites bc its a lot
Desserts
Napoleon Cake
The French name of the cake translates to “a thousand layers,” which describes the texture of the cake perfectly. It is made of a multitude of thin slices of dough and delicate flavorful cream. Many people opt for the store-bought Napoleon cake nowadays, even though it is not as good as a homemade one. It’s understandable, as making this cake requires a lot of time and patience.
Charlotte Pie
Charlotte pie might not surprise you, as it is in a sense just a plain apple pie, but it is definitely one of the most popular desserts across entire Russia. It has some strong advantages: It’s easy to make, the ingredients are affordable and easy to find in any region, and it’s plain delicious!
Blini
Blini are an Eastern European crêpe made from various kinds of flour of buckwheat, wheat, etc. They may be served with smetana, cottage cheese, caviar and other garnishes, or simply smeared with butter. They are a traditional Slavic dish.
In the West, blini traditionally refers to small savory pancakes made with leavened batter. In modern Russian, the term most often refers to pan-sized leavened thin pancakes, although smaller leavened pancakes are also called blini. Smaller and thicker pancakes (with several of them baked on one larger pan) are called oladyi.
Vatrushka
Vatrushka is a specific sort of pastry that looks like a round bun baked with tvorog (quark) as its open filling in the center.
Sometimes vatrushkas are made with fruit spread. It is one of the most ancient Russian pastries whose recipe remained fairly unchanged throughout the centuries. It is popular both as a dessert and as a snack, and it goes well with tea, milk, and kefir.
Syrniki
Syrniki are fried Eastern Slavic quark (curd cheese) pancakes. They are a part of Belarusian, Russian, Ukrainian, Latvian (biezpiena plācenīši) and Lithuanian cuisine (varškėčiai).[2] In Russia, they are also known as tvorozhniki (творо́жники).
Pyshki
Pyshka is a traditional Saint-Petersburg desert. It appeared in the 1930s here, though in Russia they were known since Ivan the Terrible times. If you've been to the city and haven't tried dusted with powdered sugar Pyshki with draft coffee, you don't know the taste of Saint-Petersburg.
Oladiy
Russians love all types of pancakes; thick or thin, locals cannot get enough of these sweet cakes! Oladyi are a traditional Russian sweet made from a very unique kind of pancake. This Russian treat can be enjoyed any time of day when you are craving something sweet!
Oladyi are made of a dough that sets them apart from other pan-fried cakes. Their dough uses yeast to leaven the lightly sweet Russian cakes. The puffy pancakes are fried and then served with honey, jam, or powdered sugar.
Sweets
Mishka Kosolapi
Although Mishka Kosolapy (Clumsy Bear) candies were originally produced back in tsarist Russia, they became a kind of confectionery symbol of the USSR. The candy consisted of two wafers with almond praline covered in dark chocolate. But it became particularly popular with Soviet citizens not for its taste but for its wonderful blue wrapper showing a fragment from Morning in a Pine Forest, a painting depicting three bears by Ivan Shishkin and Konstantin Savitsky.
Little Red Riding Hood
Krasnaya Shapochka by Krasnyi Oktyabr combines delicate textures and flavors for a delightful treat:
Smooth vanilla-flavored praline for a creamy and rich taste.
Grated peanuts adding a subtle nutty flavor.
Crispy wafer layers providing a satisfying crunch.
Perfect for tea, coffee, or as a thoughtful gift, these candies are a timeless classic.
Chocolate covered Zefir
Zefir is named for a god which is just right for this heavenly Russian dessert! This delicious sweet treat resembles a meringue kiss, but it has a flavor all its own.
Zefir are made from a mixture of meringue and fruit puree to create a pillowy and fruit dessert that Russians cannot get enough of! The most common flavors of this treat are strawberry or apple and they can be told apart by their color; green for apple and red for strawberry.
Syrok
Curd snack, cottage cheese bar or curd cheese bar is a type of sweet dairy food made from glazed or unglazed curd cheese with or without filling.
They became ubiquitous in the Soviet Union, and today curd snacks remain popular in the former Soviet Union, such as the Baltic states, Russia and Ukraine, as well as in some former Soviet-aligned ones, such as Hungary (Túró Rudi), Poland, Romania and Mongolia.
Plombir
Plombir is a type of ice cream made with vanilla, cream, eggs and sugar, originally created in the Soviet Union in 1937. USSR—and now Russian—state standards require natural ingredients and specific levels of fat and sugar content
whenever I'd listen to this opening, I'd always imagine Rena doing an enchanting theatre performance, so I drew exactly that. (Idk what kinda performance would require an extravagant dress and flying flower petals but ssshh let's not care about the details)
I'm very glad to call you my friend, I think you're one of the coolest people in my life, especially with that big brain of yours for OCs and what scenarios to throw them into.
I hope you can have a relaxing holiday time with the people you love <3
