I know it’s been forever, and what few followers I have must think my blog is a ghost town, but I promise I have a good excuse…

I did not have an easy go of things, and our little bean decided to sprout an entire month early. Which we are still adjusting to, now that we’re home. But I promise you haven’t left my mind, and I am still going to be posting things.

I'm not dead

I promise.

Hi. Wow. I'm actually on the website for once instead of mobile. It's like I don't even know who I am anymore.

Crazy.

I just wanted to get an update out there. It's been, what? Three weeks or so?

My mom is home. She's been home for a little while, but she's a long way from recovered. She struggles with the strength in her legs, and she forgets what she says and repeats herself a lot. More than she used to, anyway. Her body and mind went through a LOT very suddenly, and she's got a road ahead of her before she's healed. But she's better.

My dog - Rigby - came through her surgery well. They had to remove two teeth instead of the one they planned, but other than being a little dopey the day of, she's healing well. Still can't eat solids though and for some reason she fights the wet food, but hey, who said kids were easy?

I haven't gotten my cat - Beru - into the vet yet, but her personality is a little more normal. She's always been a little skittish, but she isn't outright bolting from just the sight of me anymore. Still doesn't seem like she's gaining weight back, nor does it feel like she's losing more. Honestly, all I can hope for is that whatever her condition is has plateaued until I can find the money to get her in. It wouldn't be a problem if my vet office accepted payments, but hey. What can I do? Clearly not pay hundreds of dollars outright.

Myself - I am still facing a possible surgery. The doctor put me on a new medication as a sort of "last resort" for a few weeks, to see if it will help the area heal on its own. However, the first medication he tried to put me on reacted very badly within my body, and I missed 3 days of work before we got me on an alternative. This my body accepts, but it is also about 10% less likely to succeed. We'll have to just wait and see what the next several weeks bring.

I have just been exhausted. In just about every single way a person can be. I've been lurking on here, keeping my toes in the water so to speak. I don't have much to offer at the moment, but I promise I am coming back. And with some goodies.

I do have a bonus part of The Incident™ series completed. It won't get posted right away, but I will see if I can finagle a teaser of sorts. There's also other ideas floating around, though most of them may just end up a sort of bullet-point summary post. I'm just not sure that I have the mental fortitude to write everything out.

You will also eventually see other fandom posts on my blog. I have debated on starting a separate blog, and letting this one continue to center mostly around K-pop, but I don't know that I have the energy to keep up with separate or multiple accounts. Who knows? That is a still very much undecided choice.

I can hear the bells.

Author’s Note: Hiiiiiiiii. Here it is: my first drabble. I swear Jungkook isn’t even my bias, he’s just such the sweetest little sweetheart to ever exist. As soon as I read/heard about his whole thing with wanting to hear a bell when he meets his soulmate/significant other, this just popped right into my head. And because I am an insomniac, I finally wrote it out last night. Hopefully you like it!

  It was quiet - that was the first thing Jungkook noticed. The soft lull of commercial music hummed above his head as he perused the shelves, just muted enough for any lyrics to be indistinguishable. He didn't mind. It lent a hand in dissociating, something he rarely had time for these days.

Not that he was complaining. That was something he tried very hard to never do. Jungkook knew just how lucky he was, how great of an opportunity he had seized at a young age that allowed him this crazy, amazing lifestyle he would have never had otherwise. It had its pitfalls, its downsides, but every road in life did. His benefits far surpassed any complaints he could possibly muster, and so he made painstakingly sure to always keep them to himself.

No, he was simply grateful for these moments when they did finally come. When peace and quiet weren't such foreign concepts, but old friends to reacquaint with. Familiar, warm.

The quiet was to be expected, he supposed, given that the sun hadn't even risen yet. In fact, just across from the shop, the high-rise windows showcased the faint stretch of dawn as it began to wake up the horizon. Currently it was just smudges of blue, but soon the sky would blossom with rosy hues as it yawned awake into the start of another day.

For now, though, there was still time to snooze.

It was for precisely this reason that they had chosen now to pass through. The airport was all but barren, and what few bodies did inhabit it were so sparse the danger of recognition was all but nonexistent. Precautions were still taken, of course. Masks pulled up over noses, hats tugged down over eyes. It was always better to be safe than sorry, after all. The majority of the guys hadn't even bothered to stray away from the gate. He wasn't alone, though. Namjoon had also diverged, meandered his way over to a small bookstand cater-cornered from the group in search of a good in-flight read.

Jungkook’s destination had turned out to be this souvenir shop, small and homely despite the massively industrialized building it took residence in. Its doors had barely opened before he had wandered his way in, eyes twinkling at all the miscellaneous knick-knacks lining shelf after shelf. His fingers had ghosted over fancy scarves, traced titles of foreign books. He'd even gotten a chuckle out of a commemorative t-shirt. Then he noticed the small display of perfumes, nose already tingling with the promise of pretty scents, and his feet had turned with a mind of their own. One more couldn't hurt...

He had just stepped out of the aisle when something clipped his shoulder and he stumbled to the side. Gripping a shelf for support, he managed to maintain his footing while turning to identify his assailant. He hadn’t even realized anyone else was in the shop – aside from the clerk behind the counter, anyway. But he was too late. The only sight left to greet him was an arm thrown haphazardly upward as the other person staggered back around the corner from whence they had come. The soles of their shoes squeaked across the tile, followed shortly thereafter by an alarming cacophony that just beckoned Jungkook to follow.

Before he could stop himself, Jungkook heeded the peculiar siren call. The first thing he noticed was the display, its shelves dropped to the side as the last of the trinkets slid unceremoniously toward the ground. Then there was the figure, hunched over itself as small, delicate hands tried to grab as many of said trinkets in a rush to save them. Mumbled words joined the discord, tickling at Jungkook’s brain, though he recognized few. They were spoken too harshly, too quickly. What he did recognize was that they were foreign for the country they were currently in. They were English.

A rush of embarrassment spurred him forward, crouching low to help gather the fallen souvenirs. “Sorry, I – so sorry…”

The sound of his voice startled the other person out of their ramblings and they jumped back on instinct. Above, the display rattled dangerously again on impact. The last remaining shelf teetered off kilter and its contents spilled forward, raining down with a musical chime.

Instinctively, Jungkook lunged forward, throwing out his arms in protection. The trinkets pelted against his body as they fell, too small to hurt. Below him, the other figure jumped again before curling in on itself, face buried in the hood of their jacket. He could just make out the eyes though, wide and bright as they stared at him in shock.

Once the barrage of ceramic keepsakes stopped and the store fell back into relative silence, Jungkook unfurled himself from his hunched position. Out of the corner of his eye, he surveyed the shop to assess the damage. No one seemed alerted to his presence, at least. Not even the clerk. A rush of relief surged through him.

“Sorry,” he muttered again, absentmindedly reaching out a hand to help the other person up. “Are you okay?”

That small, delicate hand slipped hesitantly into his and he tugged. Just as his eyes fixed forward again, they were drawn away at the sight of something slipping off the stranger’s shoulder. Once more instinct acted for him, his other hand shooting out to catch the stray souvenir. What he thought was one was actually two, however, and while the first landed squarely in his opened palm, the second tumbled musically toward the ground.

That was when he recognized the sound. And in what felt like a true movie moment, Jungkook swore time slowed down as his eyes shot back up in surprise. The stranger stared back, face frozen in shock, hood finally slipped away from their face. Jungkook drank in the sight before him while the delicate noise rang loudly in his ears.

Bells.

You were beautiful.

You stood before him, body frozen in complete confusion with just a touch of fear. Plus, you were afraid to move, what with the dozens of ceramic bells now littering the floor around you. So you stayed put, albeit awkwardly, fists curling into the sleeves of your jacket. This man’s gaze was intense, especially given you could see nothing but his eyes. It was a little unnerving.

“I, uh…” You tried to speak, but it was difficult with how he was staring at you. Your cheeks flushed, one hand raising to swipe at them in a weak effort to hide the blooming color.

Jungkook didn’t need to hear much to think your voice was more melodic than anything else he’d ever listened to. And the soft dusting of pink on your skin? More captivating than the glowing dawn outside, and easily his new favorite color.

Whatever moment spanned between you was broken by the call of a voice outside of the shop. Your head perked up at the sound, eyes leaving him in search of the source. He felt his heart thud pathetically at the loss of your attention. His fingers curled tighter around the bell and beneath his mask, he worried his lip between his teeth as he struggled to find something – anything – else to say to you.

Then your eyes turned back to him, and all thought flew right out the window. “I, uh, I have to… go,” you managed to stutter out. Attempting to step around the mess beneath you, your body swayed on uneven footing. Jungkook’s hand came to rest on your side for support, guiding you safely to a free expanse of floor. He hadn’t even noticed your own hand had gripped his arm until suddenly it was withdrawing, shoved deep into the recesses of your pocket.

“Thanks,” you muttered, the flush darkening on your cheeks. Jungkook was sure his own were a matching hue, and he’d never been more thankful for his disguise. “Sorry for the, uh, mess.”

You were moving toward the front of the shop – you were leaving. Jungkook’s eyes widened in realization and, as was proving to be his usual today, he moved after you without thinking. He caught up to you at the end of the aisle, fingers brushing against the seam of your palm as he reached out. You jumped, spinning to face him again. Judging by your expression, you clearly had not expected him to follow.

“Sorry,” he mumbled, dropping his hand back to his side. “I just… uhm…”

Your eyes darted outside of the shop, and he noted the figure hovering in the hall, calling out once more. They turned toward where you both stood, and their eyes lit up in recognition upon seeing you. You looked back to him in apprehension.

“I need to go, my flight –“

“Your name?” Jungkook spit out, cheeks flaming in embarrassment. Damn, he wished he were more eloquent.

Your lips pursed in surprise at his outburst. “Wh-what?”

He couldn’t help how his gaze fell to your pouted lips for a split second. He hoped you wouldn’t notice, but your ruddy cheeks indicated that you most definitely did. You looked good in scarlet.

“Your name,” he breathed out a little easier this time. “I can… have your name?”

Maybe it was the caffeine from one too many coffees buzzing through your veins, or just the way his dark eyes glistened so innocently in the faint light of dawn. Or maybe it was because you were just desperate to get away before your already dwindling wallet could feel the weight of the possible damage you had caused in there. Either way, you found it much too easy to oblige him.

“Y/N.”

His heart took wing at the sound, and the smile that split his face was so wide it crinkled his eyes to near slits. And he swore your lips twitched with faint mimicry. Then you were moving again, joining your friend as you both hurried off to your gate.

“Ahem.”

Jungkook turned to see the store clerk perched over his shoulder, arms crossed over her chest. She raised an eyebrow at him, tilting her head in the direction of the broken display. His head bobbed in admonishment and he moved back inside, quick to assure the clerk he would pay for the damage. This seemed to soothe her, at least, and he followed her back to her post at the register. Somehow, he found he didn’t mind the impending cost. Instead, his hand tightened around the little ceramic bell, grateful to have a keepsake of the single most important day of his life.

The day Jeon Jungkook met his soulmate.

You were exhausted.

Two weeks ago, your days had been cinematic. Soaring mountains, neon cities, blooming country sides: they’d all provided breathtaking backdrops for a month’s worth of adventures with your best friend. Your passport still sat carelessly on your desk, pages brimming with the timeline of your travels. The trip had been impulsive, and exhilarating.

And expensive.

Despite all your scrimping and saving and the meticulous planning you had put into the excursion, your bank account had still been stretched incredibly thin. After all, you still had bills to keep up with while you were away experiencing life. Not that you regretted the trip – the very opposite, actually. You’d never known such freedom, such peace. And oh, what you wouldn’t give to be back on a distant shore, toes buried in the sand and bathed in moonlight, watching your friend frolic haphazardly through the dark waters.

Instead, you find yourself back in your studio apartment on the far side of town after another long day at work. Only the light above the stove is there to greet you at this late hour, left on by you to prevent any more stubbed toes or banged shins. After all, the only window you have in your “living room” faces a brick wall attached to a ten-story building. You aren’t exactly familiar with natural lighting.

Still, the apartment is home, and has been for some time now. It may not be conveniently located to your work – 45 minute commute by bus, 30 by taxi if you ever had the money to spare for one – but it’s cheap enough that even with your commuting fees, you manage to come out on top each month. And that’s really all you could ask for. Plus, it’s just you living here, and you’ve never been a flashy kind of person. If anything, the plain, boring space suits you rather well.

You had just thrown your coat over the back of your kitchen chair and dropped your bag onto the counter when the familiar chime of your phone sounds from the confines of your pants. Instinctively, you groaned. You knew that sound.

Another work email.

Even though you had clocked out almost 2 hours ago, your phone had not shut up since you had left the building. Your return from your vacation had been timed perfectly with the start of the busy season, and thus had buried you in orders before you’d even had your first cup of coffee. Ever since, you’d been working longer and longer hours to try and stay afloat. This often meant working off the clock and answering emails from the comfort of your own home.

Needless to say, you’d grown conditioned to hate that particular series of bells.

Tonight, however, you choose to ignore the siren call of work in favor of heating up some leftovers you’d been dreaming about all day. It was Friday, after all. Even if you responded to this beck and call, it likely wouldn’t be received until tomorrow, let alone appreciated by your bosses until the coming Monday because they got to leave work behind when they clocked out. So, screw it. You were taking the rest of the night for yourself.

The food in the microwave, your clothes changed out for a comfy set of pjs, and your laptop tucked under your arm, you settled into your favorite spot on the couch. Flipping the screen open, you punched in your log-in information and waited as your most recent activity reloaded before your eyes. Squinting against the brightness, you’re greeted with the familiar sight of your social media. It’s all kept primarily on your laptop in an effort to maintain your phone for work purposes only, so you’re not surprised that you’d forgotten to close out of the accounts.

As the tantalizing aroma of your food begins to seep out from the kitchen, you flick between accounts to catch up on the latest with your family and friends. You were just about to leave a sarcastic comment on one of your friend’s status updates when another chime rings loudly in your quiet apartment. You jump in surprise, carefully cradling your laptop to prevent a journey to the floor. Instinctively, your eyes shoot to your phone with a glare. But it remains on the counter, where you left it, screen dark with its lack of power.

You look instead to the microwave, tongue sticking out of your mouth in anticipation of your food. Only the glowing red numbers tell you there is still a little over a minute left. Your stomach rumbles grumpily.

Something on the screen between your hands catches your eye, and you look down with your brow drawn in confusion. There is nothing on the page you are currently on, but one of the other tabs is blinking in notification. Clicking on it, your Facebook page loads up in a soft blue glow. And there, up near the top of your screen, is a little red circle indicating that you have a new friend request.

You have not met anyone new lately – there hasn’t been any time for that with work. Anyone of interest from your trip that had warranted exchanging information had added you on their preferred social media platform, none of which had been Facebook. You vaguely remembered a friend mentioning her cousin was moving nearby soon and would likely be scouring her own page for people to add from the area, but that was more than a month ago.

Curiosity winning out, you click on the little red bubble. The menu drops down with the account that has submitted the request. There is no profile picture – hello red flag – but there is a message attached to the request. You click on it, and you choke on your own spit.

Hello, Y/N. Bell girl. I hope you made flight.

You almost have no idea what this message means. Your name could have just been gleaned from your profile, and everything else is random enough to be brushed off as spam. You move the mouse to hover over the delete button. But you hesitate.

Because just across from you, on one of the shelves of your bookcase, sits a little ceramic bell whose chime you have not been able to forget since it literally rained down on you. You’d thought they’d all been cleaned up, but one had managed to fall into the hood of your coat and you unwittingly carried it onto your plane with you. It wasn’t until you were an entire ocean away that you discovered the mistake, at which point it was too late to remedy. You’d stewed in guilt for a day or two, even contemplated tossing the thing out so it wouldn’t remind you of the only theft you’d ever committed.

Then you rang it, and those soft doe eyes were called into your memory. How they glistened as he’d stared at you, the way they crinkled when you’d offered him your name. You hadn’t gotten his, but you hadn’t needed it, either. Because you knew those eyes.

Your own snap back to your laptop and zero in on the requester’s profile name. A rather undignified snort leaves you.

John Cook.

Was he serious? Of course not, because there was no way this was even him. It was some sort of coincidence. At worst, a terrible joke. It had to be.

There was absolutely, positively, no way Jeon Jungkook was adding you on Facebook.

Right?

There it is! I know Jungkook isn’t exactly present in this one, but I wanted to show the reader’s POV more this time. Please let me know what you think. So. I obviously didn’t get anything written by the end of June. I have outlines, but nothing completed. I’ve been totally overwhelmed with fighting my insurance, family issues, and returning health concerns, and I’ve just been one big ball of anxiety.

I am making myself a goal though. I have some more wedding things to detail out, and then I am sitting down to write. I don’t know what just yet, but it’ll be SOMETHING. I’m just not going to set any timeframe for myself because I’m still fighting with my insurance and attending my program.

Thanks, anyone, who has been this patient with me. I promise I do love you so so so much. 🥺

OKAY.

So I did not expect to log in today and see the most notifications I’ve ever had while being on this website.

When I tell you I am 🥺, I mean I am 🥺🥺🥺. It’s been a rough while for me lately, very rough, and all of this unexpected love for my pieces has me damn near crying.

I can’t promise to have anything new soon, but I am on leave from work for a few weeks while I get some things together so I am going to do my damnedest to try and give you all SOMETHING.
