i’m so heartbroken that everything sucks is cancelled. this show meant and still does mean so much to me. it was amazing to be accurately represented in a show and to have a lesbian as a main character and not as just part of the background. i will forever mourn the loss of this absolutely amazing show.

Okay, first off,

This is going to be my rant, sorry but I need to vent about this.

So I just finished binge watching Everything Sucks! a new as if this year Netflix original series. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s a series set in 1996, with a black male lead, who falls in love with the female lead, who is coming to terms with her sexuality throughout the whole season to finally have her first kiss and the start of a budding relationship IN THE LAST THREE MINUTES OF THE SEASON FINALE, throw in some weirdo friends of the male lead, parents and teachers that actually give a shit about the well-beings of the children and a bunch of theatre kids led by an egotistical and self centred child actor, and you have Everything Sucks!

My main point is that this show is quite a good representation of the struggles people go through, SPOILERS,

-dealing with a parent committing suicide

-a parent leaving

-parents moving on

-lives of children with single parents

-first loves

-first relationships

-homophobia

-they go a little and I mean little bit into the affects of a run away child/teen

Though it does show things that mostly only happen in movies,

i.e.

-freshmen creating movies with school budgets ( I, personal, have never heard of this happening but I’m not saying it’s not impossible, just that I’ve never heard of this being a thing)

- traveling all the way to some rocks to shoot said movie, or parts of

And the cliff hanger at the end, not just with the start of Kate’s (the female lead) relationship with Emaline (theatre kid) but also the cliff hanger with Luke’s (male lead) father....

And they FUCKING CANCELLED THE SHOW?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

AFTER 1 SEASON?!?!?

AFTER THE INSANE AMOUNT IF VIEWS IT GOT?!?!?

I MEAN REALLY?!?!?

We finally get some good representation of a lot of things and they throw it under the rug and refuse even after a lot of the cast has tried to talk about another season and fans have tried to get another season and nothing?!?!?

This is the type of show that they should be pushing for many more seasons not cancelling it after one amazing season.

The show is over. My heart is broken. But I will continue running this blog because I will love Kemaline and this show no matter what. Hopefully we can change their minds...
