By the way, you may have encountered few blogs lately pretty suspicious that were copying many posts in fandom (text post, arts and else), from their caption to even their tags (even the personal ones :'s). And followed by a "read more" that linked to a malware page.

I asked Tumblr staff if they would consider it as a copyright infringement or more like spam since those blogs post the "right" content in the right tag and that it is a form of repost after all. (the thing is it's so much more complicated to report for copyright issue than spam)

Here's their reply

Thanks for telling me! They’ve apparently “dubbed” (ai voices) a couple of my comics, which tbh I don’t really mind but do mind the no credit in the video or description or comments, I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to reposting so pretty funny

I’ll see if I can do anything about it, I kinda doubt it seeing it seems like a whole account just dedicated to not crediting, but here’s my advice

- If you ever see my work (or any artist you know) reposted and not credited, just comment and credit me yourself! So at least people can still find the source someway ^^

I'm not sure if it's because LnDS is a fairly new fandom, and people aren't very aware of the reposting problems that exist across fandoms in general. You wouldn't dare go around reposting fics in the tag, so why should other forms of content be treated any differently???

There's also an issue with art reposting in this tag, blogs that repost art are getting thousands of likes and reblogs. Is reblogging stolen art the community we want????? By the way, disclaiming "credit to the artist or whoever it belongs to" means nothing, especially when you go and look at the artists who made the art, 90% of them say DO NOT REPOST.

I just went to the top posts and looked at the very obvious reposted art and traced it back to the artists, and what a "surprise" I found in their bios and posts.

Tr: no reposting, no edits etc...

Some of the curses on these...I beg you run a translator through it before you steal...

Okay so there's this gintama spyfam cross fanart from @ jackystar243 that I've seen. It was a reposted art (i scanned through the blog). The blog has several other reposted sxf art.

I tagged my mutuals who reblogged it, artists @ roucaelum-art and @ mochidoodle whose arts were also reposted, to alert them.

And next I've sent an ask (roucaelum also messaged them iirc) but i doubt the person cared and my ask was probably ignored because i saw another reposted art some days ago.

I just want to alert everyone to be careful about reblogging fanarts. There are L O T S of reposters even here on tumblr. So let me share my tip: browse through the blog first.

I have messaged and politely educated them about tumblr/art culture and how you shouldn't repost and either reblog or create original content instead. They blocked me in response and continued to repost others' art/work.

I love seeing new content being created, no matter by who and in which quality, it truly doesn't matter. What matters is that we're kind to one another and value the art we create, whether it's fanfic, art/digital art, edits/graphics/gifs or fanvideos. Fandom culture is amazing, but it's the community that makes it what it is! 🥰
