first of all, it needs to be BIG; sailfins are large lizards----up to 4 feet long, nose to tail----and are very fond of climbers. I’d consider the absolute minimum to be 5 feet long, 5 feet tall, and 4 feet wide. I’d LOVE to have a live water feature too because sailfins are usually found around streams, but that’s probably unrealistic because sailfins usually poop in their water supply. :/ I’ll have to settle for a bin probably.
Shelves are necessary. Again, sailfins are BIG climbers. A really common problem with sailfins is noserub so most people feel that there needs to be a barrier over part of their cage so they can’t see out. I think that a really thick plant cover would achieve this and not look ugly. So the whole thing would have to be planted to keep them comfy and feeling safe.
They need a high humidity, and high temperature tropical-type set-up: 85-90F in most of the cage, with a hot spot of 115F, so it’ll be tough finding good plants that thrive in those temps. But I’m sure there’s a way. I’m thinking dubia roaches might be a good clean-up crew, along with tropical isopods, and springtails.
so basically i want a tiny rain forest with a dragon.
