A small predatory katydid, that it turns out I’ve seen many more times than I realised. There’s a bunch of very similar-looking Requena species on Australia’s SW coast, but there’s also a species found only on Rottnest Island, off the coast here in Perth. In fact, recent work studying their genitals has revolved that the genus is much more diverse than we knew, and that many of these new species are found in very limited areas.

They’re also quite well-studied lab animals, these days.
