Maybe, Sai might be somewhat responsible for Boruto to start painting on Hokage Rock.

Well as much as I love same age AU, I hate to think how rush would it be for Sai and Ino to get married so fast and have a kid. So maybe here, Sai and Ino is newly wed couple and Sai just loves to babysit Boruto around thou Naruto dislikes it.
