This was a Bradley x Reader request, but I did not use Y/N.
Bradleyâs graduation is approaching and he worries he wonât have anyone to tap him out with you being across the country. But little does he know that with the help of Admiral Kazansky and Captain Kerner you are in fact there to proudly tap him out.
It wasnât easy, but you had managed to play enough phone tag to get ahold of Admiral Tom âIcemanâ Kazansky. You wanted to make sure everything was planned out to a tee. Bradley was about to graduate, and you were across the country, still finishing up your last semester. But with the help of Admiral Kazansky, you had obtained a graduation ticket and a flight, and you arrived the night before. The trick was keeping it a surprise from Bradley.
âAre you excited to graduate?â You ask with a grin as you check your reflection in the mirror, looking over the sundress you wore. It was one of his favorites, a casual sleeveless navy blue V-neck dress that reached your knees and had buttons down the front. It reminded you of one of the Hawaiian shirts he loved so much, making you grin.
âYeah, but I wish you could be there. I donât have anyone to tap me out. Nat said something about her sister possibly tapping me out. But I wish you could, pretty girl.â You bit your lip, reminding yourself you were trying to surprise him.
âAww, I know, baby. I promise I will make it up to you!â You say as you hear him let out a heavy sigh. You want to tell him you will be there for a brief moment. But the thought of the look on his face when you surprise him is enough to keep you quiet. âYou know I will gladly use any excuse to see you in one of your uniforms.â You giggle, and you can hear him chuckle on the other line.
âSounds like Iâll have to reenact it so you can see it, honey. As much as I donât want to hang up, I better go if I want to be there in time. I love you so much, beautiful. Talk more after the ceremony.â He said as you told him you loved him too.
You had never met Captain Kerner, but he was easy to spot in the hallway as he waved you over.
âIce said you were coming to surprise Bradley. Heâs going to be so happy to see you. Câmon in, and Iâll show you your seat. Ice sends his hello, but being the Admiral, he is part of the ceremony.â The man says as he leads you inside. Thankfully, the crowd is large enough that you can blend in. Captain Kerner, however, still stands between you and the aisles just in case Bradley was to look toward the audience and see you. You canât help but smile as you see several of the men in the old photo of his Dad in the audience. Turns out, even if you werenât there to tap out Bradley, these aviators wouldâve gladly tapped him out in honor of his Dad.
You watch Bradley with pride as he is announced as top of his class, and he still humbly thanks his instructors and the Admiral. One of the things you love about Bradley is while he knows he is one of the best, he doesnât let it get to his head. He puts others first. When Admiral Kazansky announced it was time for the tap-out ceremony, you saw Bradleyâs posture stiffen. For a brief moment, your heart broke, but you knew it was about to change as you made your way toward him. You see his friend Nat get tapped out and give him a sad look before she notices you as you wink at her. She bites her lip and tells Bradley she will meet him outside.
âHe didnât say you were coming.â She whispers as she passes you, making you grin.
âThatâs because itâs a surprise. Weâll see you outside.â You whisper as you continue to walk toward him.
âI really do love seeing you in your uniforms, baby.â You purr as you slide a hand along his shoulders. Bradley jumps in surprise as your hand slides over his hips and moves up to his cheek as you turn his face toward you.
âW-what? Honey, what are you doing here?â He whispers as you bring his lips toward yours with a grin. You can feel him melt into the kiss as he holds you close.
âI wasnât going to miss this for the world, baby. I am so fucking proud of you. And oh, we will have to send a thank you card or something to Admiral Kazansky and Captain Kerner. They helped make this possible.â Bradleyâs arms wrap around your hips as he looks down at you, truly beaming with excitement.
âAnd you are wearing this dress? Fuck, sweetheart, this started out as a rough day, but seeing you hereâŠI amâŠI love you, pretty girl.â He grins as he leans down to kiss you again.
âWe should probably head outside. Some people are giving us stink eye.â You whisper, making him laugh loudly.
âThey are just jealous of my beautiful girlfriend who came all the way across the country to be here. I am the luckiest man in the world.â He laces his fingers in yours, bringing them to his lips and kissing them before you head outside.
When the two of you head toward the Bronco, he is still grinning as he gently spins you around as if you are dancing.
âI still canât get over you making it today, baby.â You bite your lip, pulling him toward you and kissing his lips.
âI already told you I wasnât going to miss this for the world.â You giggle as he opens the passenger door for you. Michael BublĂ©âs song Everything plays on the radio as Bradley begins to sing along cheerfully. He refuses to let go of your hand as he kisses your knuckles again.
âOh, when you smile at me, you know exactly what you do. Baby, donât pretend that you donât know itâs true, âcause you can see it when I look at you. And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times, Itâs you, itâs you, you make me sing. Youâre every line, youâre every word, youâre everything, Youâre a carousel, youâre a wishing well, And you light me up when you ring my bellâŠ.â You love hearing Bradley sing; he knows you love when he serenades you. The grin on his face makes this very clear as his thumb brushes over your knuckles.
âYouâre a mystery, youâre from outer space, Youâre every minute of my every day, And I canât believe, uh, that Iâm your man. And I get to kiss you, baby, just because I can. Whatever comes our way, oh, weâll see it through. And you know thatâs what our love can do. And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times, Itâs you, itâs you, you make me sing. Youâre every line, youâre every word, youâre everythingâŠ.â You hum along to the song as he makes his way back to his rented apartment. When he finishes the song, he stops at a red light and leans over to kiss you. âI love you so much, baby.â He beams as you giggle. You feel your cheeks heating up as he gives you a playful wink. You will never know what you did to deserve such a perfect man, but you werenât going to argue. You knew you were the luckiest damn woman in the universe. Instead of turning right to reach the apartment complex heâs staying at, he turns left, pulls into a scenic parking lot, and unbuckles his seatbelt.
âDo me a favor, beautiful. Can you open the glove compartment?â Your brows furrow in confusion before you open the glove compartment, only to gasp when you see a small velvet box sitting there. The grin on Bradleyâs face tells you exactly what it is. âI was going to surprise you at your graduationâŠbut I canât wait for another second. Will you make me the luckiest man and make this one of the best days of my life and marry me?â He asks as he gently takes the box from you and opens it. Inside is his motherâs ring. You know that ring, itâs the one in the old photos that are placed around your shared apartment back home.
âYES! YES, YESSS! A million and more times, yes!â You squeal as he slides the ring on your finger, pulling you into a kiss. It turns out that you werenât the only one doing the surprising today. âOne question thoughâŠwill you wear your dress whites for our wedding too?â You whisper, making him laugh.
âFor you, baby? Of course, now câmere, beautiful.â He purrs as he pulls you into his lap, kissing you until you are breathless. You made a mental note to send far more than a thank you card to Admiral Kazansky and Captain Kerner. You were about to send them one of those Omaha Steak boxes you kept getting ads for. And those men were for sure getting a damn wedding invite for making today possible.
