during that one cutscene where rerir intended to kill everyone in the vicinity, i like to imagine that he singles you out, separating you from your companions using his phantom hands while he goes toe to toe with pulonia. as the fight starts reaching its climax, you're dragged further and further away from them, so much so that by the time columbina's crescent mark appears on the ground to teleport them away, you're unable to be saved.
you can't fault them for leaving without you, not when no one knew that this would be what the situation lead up to. still, it's undeniable that you're most likely about to be killed by an infamous sinner from khaenri'ah. when rerir finishes catching his breath, he approaches your pinned down figure with quiet steps, expression discernable from the amount of bandages that covers his face.
"will..." you gulp, eager to move away from him with every step he takes, "will you be killing me now?"
rerir, against all odds, shakes his head. "no." he hoists your entire body up from the ground using just one hand, pulling you out like you weighed nothing. you fear his physical strength, "you will be coming with me, and we'll see if your companions value you enough to save you before i retain my complete form."
...it seems even sinners have a sense of humor, albeit a more twisted one.
siscon rerir wherein the girl he grew up with in the orphanage happens to belong to the crimson moon dynasty .............................................................................. hey.
// pseudocest/stepcest, minor luna ii spoilers.
i like to think that, compared to rerir (assumedly) being an orphan since infancy, you come to the orphanage at an age where you were aware that you were abandoned by your parents. the day you joined the other children was an eventful one; your wails echoed throughout the crayon-doodled halls, overpowering the gentle tone the other caretakers tried to use on you.
rerir, playing in the grass fields not too far away, hears it and out of curiosity, comes tiptoeing to the orphanage's entrance to see what all the commotion was about. he sees you then, a tiny shaking figure, teary red-crossed eyes with snot dribbling from your nose and a scuffed teddy bear closely held to your chest. he approaches you soon enough, hours after you've calmed down. he's only mere inches taller than you, probably close in age, too.
rerir settles in the spot next to you during dinner time and hasn't let go of you since then, having imposed a righteous self-duty upon himself to take care of you; to guide and teach you how to live in this orphanage.
perhaps he saw the familial relationships of strangers when he ventured out into the streets of khaenri'ah and observed from the shadows. he remembered a little girl calling out for her mother, remembered a teenager tugging on the sleeves of an older woman and whining in impatience for her to hurry up as he called her "sis".
rerir never had that, a person to call family or another figure in his life to call "sister" and be called "brother" in return. so he makes one himself.
he tells you to forget your cruel parents' selfish actions, for rerir will be your family and more. he'll be your brother in this orphanage, and once he gathers enough money, he'll lead you to a life free of suffering.
just trust in your big bro.
years leading up to him obtaining a position as the king's executioner, rerir grows overprotective of you. he begins to view himself as not just your sole family, but your sole protector too. he's always lurking nearby in case other children think of bullying you. he's there during feeding time, fussing over the meal you got and giving you more of his portion to ensure your health.
sure, his punches leave lasting effects on your bully and gets him in trouble. yes, he's more than often left starving after sacrifcing his portions for your sake, but it's normal for brothers to act this way, don't worry. rerir's seen it countless times when he visited the capital of khaenri'ah. it's even normal for big brothers to tease their younger sisters, didn't you know that? so the next time he pinches your cheek, just know it's a love language!
the day he manages to afford his own housing (even chose it near the univesitas since that's where you'll be studying) and takes you along with him is when his brotherly behavior starts to blur.
jealousy becomes a close companion of his whenever you come home and start smelling like different men. rerir concludes that filthy mutts back in the universitas have been so close to you that their horrible cologne has rubbed off on your uniform. he hates it. one time, he even saw a glimpse of a man sending you off at the doorstop, and rerir swore he was about to throw up this morning's breakfast.
it's fine for him to act this way; older brothers are protective, after all. and you have always been so radiant, brimming with genius even back at the orphanage - it's why he's so proud to call himself your brother. and it's because you're so dear to him that he can't trust other men's intentions around you. best to be safe than to be sorry.
the crimson moon dynasty falls, and is replaced by the eclipse. rerir is scouted by the king, and he will soon live a double life hidden from your eyes.
but as rerir stood in front of the king, his majesty raving about the crown and nation, calling any and all links to the crimsoon moon a threat to be eliminated, his mind flashes to the only person he knew who held the crimson moon dynasty's blood; his dearest sister. his only special person.
the moment he was dismissed, he took off running at a maddening speed, uncaring of the inconvenience he might put other people through. you're home at this time, waiting for him to finish his meeting with the king.
he stumbles inside the apartment, unlacing his shoes and slamming the door shut. when you emerge from your room, all confused, rerir immediately holds onto you.
his grip is deathly, latched on tight as if you'd run off to the surface the moment he lets go.
"sis, you have to listen to me," rerir, your dearest brother from the orphanage, the greatest blessing of your life, pulls you into his embrace. you hear his heart beating to the rhythm of fear, "you can't go outside anymore; you need to stay here."
lest the one-eyed king catches wind of your red-crossed eyes and demands your head next.
Flins x Reader x Rerir love triangle/ trying to win your attention
Reader getting locked in the lighthouse by Flins, Rerir finds them and falls in love. Now Reader has two obsessive men under their finger with no way out
yes,,,,, yes very delicious. love triangle,,,,,
it's very plausible, too, if we want to stick to canon.
flins lives in his own isolated area that's miles away from the other lighkeeper buildings and excuses this by pointing out the graveyard he watches over. and no sane person would usually dare to step foot upon such a ghost-heavy island, not unless they intend to get scared.
for this reason, visitors are few and far between, making it easy for him to sneak in an unconscious body one quiet night and keep them locked up in his tower while his fellow lightkeepers are none the wiser, even more so the HQ. you're just a run-of-the-mill citizen from nasha town, and your disappearance is quickly excused as some machine freak accident that must have happened with one of those fatui militant robots.
no one knows you're still alive, that day by day, you throw tantrums around, carrying the hope that someone out there can hear you. this arrangement goes on for months, probably years.
and your dim, enclosed world expands a tiny bit more when flins comes home one day with an unusual presence residing within his lamp, one so heavy that even you can feel it without possessing a moonwheel or vision. you dare not ask flins, believing that what you're sensing is just an aftermath of him dealing with the wild hunt.
but morning comes, and while flins briefly rests in the room next to yours, his lantern that he left behind flickers an ominous purple. it catches your attention instantly, and by the time you turn around, you come face to face with a ghostly apparition who has a missing limb.
and when he speaks, it comes with an echo.
you soon come to learn that his name is rerir, a once prominent figure from the fallen nation of khaenri'ah. this newfound companion of yours only comes out when flins is off resting his bloodshot eyes, and even then, rerir speaks to you in short, curt sentences. always asking about the current state of the world, where this place was, what year it is, etc.
but you start to fear him too, the same way you do with flins, when rerir one day promises to free you from the snowland fae's grasp once his body reforms to its original state.
we NEED to talk about teyvat vision holder's fashion and how it's prime gooner material for them if (y/n)'s outfit is similar....
exposed backside, detached sleeves, armpits revealed, short skirt with stockings.... it's not far-fetched to say that it distracts them from the task at hand. even more so if your vision is placed at, say, eye wandering places (e.g., top of your chest, at your hip, middle of your backside, hanging off a thigh strap, etc.).
especially when it's during a battle, your outfit gets cut and pieces torn off by the enemies....
flins probably watches from afar before stepping in, eyes drinking up how your skin gets further exposed the longer the fight goes on. only stepping in to save you when he sees you're visibly worn out, probably insists on carrying you on his back or princess carry style all the way to nasha town because it's what a proper gentleman like him ought to do. he's even kind enough to tell you to rid yourself of your tattered outfit while he buys you a substitute, politely folding your clothes and telling you that he'll be the one to dispose of it. it saves you trouble, right? but that ruined outfit never really got around to being thrown out. instead, it makes a home right beside his strenuous collection.
maybe the enemy itself is even rerir, and your greatest strategy against him (unknown even to you) is distracting him with your attire and scandalously placed vision. between malding over his incomplete power or salivating over exposed skin like he's once more a teenage boy with raging hormones, he's quite troubled. he probably angles his attacks, deliberately aiming for the parts of your outfit that'd have a sleeve falling off or stockings getting ripped. tries not to show his delight too much when some of his phantom hands come crawling out to scratch at your skin, touching you in a way that's less of an ambush and more of... caressing.
or chiori, your trusty friend who you always come to after another outfit is ruined by the mean abyssal creatures. she'll play tough and mean, rolling her eyes in irritation each time you come crawling back to her boutique with a sheepish expression. but she's a good friend, always accepting to make you a new outfit without charge. still, there's something suspicious in how laughably easy the fabric tears and ruins, behaving less like cloth and more akin to paper. but that's impossible, chioriya boutique only uses the highest grade materials, including the fabrics. perhaps the enemy is beginning to overpower you, then? also, maybe it's all in your head, but lately, the skirt seems to be getting shorter and shorter.... you might need to start investing in bloomers soon, lest you accidentally flash your enemy (rerir) with your ribbon-patterned panties.
Ok but what do u think of rierr with a kinda crazy s/o who matches his freak 👀
oh, trust me anons, i've thought of this too MKEVMDKVFIVK sinner antagonistic (y/n) was too much of a bad bitch for rerir to handle so they dumped his sorry ass to continue their evil schemes all alone <333 i hope the following patches give us more content on pre-sinner era rerir and what his personality was like (if it even differed at all, that is) because i can't wait to look back at this and laugh at how off the mark i was ODMEFKEVKRVNV.
sinner (y/n) is very interesting because i picture them to have the same degree of apathy as post-cataclysm rhinedottir and surtalogi, as they are more focused on their own goals that they tend to disregard other aspects of their lives. one of them being rerir.
the abyssal power obtained from that golden-haired savior has been split up between them. doomsday came and passed, and they are no longer tethered to their homeland. rerir, in a grand delusion of sorts, eagerly awaits them at the cobblestone path of their home, looking up at the red khaenri'ahn sky that they both grew up with.
you don't plan on bringing him along to your own journey, and you tell him so. he looks at you with blatant confusion in his eyes, struggling to comprehend why you'd part ways with him now more than ever. had you two not been a dynamic duo when you split that abyssal power into two? was your heart not racing when he told you that the wild hunt was created to protect your ethereal visage? to not sully your hands in worthless blood?
frankly, he doesn't get it. rerir believed you both to be on the same page, two damned souls condemned to live an eternal life with nothing but each other's company, loving each other in both sanity and madness - a grand depiction of romance that none of the books back home could ever hope to compare against.
he's done everything for you, played the part, and acted out anything you wished for. was that not enough? is your heart destined to forever be out of his reach... like looking up at the moon at night? he has killed for you; you both know this. you condoned this, even.
and yet.... you're discarding him, leaving him behind like he was just a quick fraction in your life?
you're so eager to get away from him the moment you're granted this power, was it a mistake to let you consume it?
he's quick to seize your wrist, unwilling to let go. aims to forcefully drag you to embark with him on his own journey since you're such a stubborn fool. your mind is already on the deep end of abyssal corruption if you're wavering already. that won't do. rerir can't let that happen. he's done so much for you, willing to do more and everything but this one thing.
but you're a sinner, too. soul willingly corrupted in exchange for grand power. you refuse to be strung along, the world beyond teyvat awaits your sharp eyes, and the second cataclysm will happen before you let him get his way.
what transpires after is a sacrifice of most of your power to ensure that rerir falls into the moon's reflection, the very moon that he often compared to your likeness, the very moon that he promised to bring down just for you. his body shatters into innumerable fragments, scattered throughout distant lands. and you're led to believe that was the end of him, for quite a while, at least. more than enough time for you to traverse the lands and discover the truth hidden from unsuspecting eyes.
yet centuries later, when panicked whispers of tourists speaking of a sudden crisis having manifested in nod-krai, you know that he's finally found most, if not all, of his fragments. you can already imagine him cursing your name aloud.
and as his former lover (he'd argue you to still be his current one), perhaps an act of generosity extended to him is due.
