Rescue Me
Trauma/rescue kit
Putting one together to have around. My father and I are headed up north into some heavy woods to moose hunt close to the Canadian border, literally at the tippy top of, Maine. It's an area he's been to before, and we're sticking to the logging roads, so slim chance of getting lost, but the kit is always good to have. I also do Search and Rescue with the fire department, because we live in a rural area next to the Appalachian Trail. Just bought all kinds of stuff, blood clot, tourniquets, gauze bandages and pads, shears... etc. Also got another compass, "industrial" glow sticks, long term storage food rations (pack of 3 food bars, 3600 calories each), space blankets, flagging tape... excited to get this thing together. I got a nice molle webbed bag that has a water bladder(I'll keep bottled water in the pack for first aid purposes), and one last purchase I made that I thought of, was a one way valve CPR mask, which I'd recommend to anyone who went through CPR training, it's what we used in my class, and they're great. I have a few other things at home already, like rubber gloves, individually wrapped antiseptic wipes and antibiotic ointment, and some tape. I'll also keep some ibuprofen in the kit. I'm sure there are other things not mentioned that I forgot, but if there is anything I should add, please let me know.
You never want to be the one running in heels during a disastrous earthquake.
