The newest rescues: The back story. We were contacted by a loving couple in need of help. The husband had been battling stage 4 cancer and was in and out of hospitals for lengths of up to four months at a time. The wife felt absolutely awful for neglecting their sweet horses and donkey while she remained by her husband's side in the hospital. The trio had been living in a pasture, essentially untouched, for a year or so. Life throws everyone curveballs at times, which can be especially hard on horse owners. With it being just the husband and wife, the wife was faced with the reality of knowing everyone needed her; her beloved husband as well as their trio of equines. I can't imagine how hard it was for her to knowingly have to sacrifice time with their horses in order to be by her husband's side. With a heavy heart, the wife knew the equines needed and deserved more, and reached out for assistance. We gladly offered our help and services. Tears were shed and comforting hugs given as we loaded the three new lovebugs into our trailer. There was only one injury ... one of the newly donated trailer ties was ripped in half by Ladybug 😆🤦🏻‍♀️ She's strong! I always tell people who are surrendering their animals that there will be no judgements on our part. Life happens, that's just the way it is. It is not my place to judge. It takes immense courage and bravery to admit shortcomings and ask for assistance. I would rather that than a prideful owner, too ashamed to ask for help, watch their beloved equine continually decline. Not long ago, Murphy was skin and bones and was fortunately rescued from a farm nearby. A local rescue group got him the nutrition and care that he needed, along with acupuncture and other therapies. Today I got to meet Murphy at his new forever home where he has become best friends with Rustler, a fellow quarter-horse. when he looked across the fields, he can see the mountains of western Maryland and perhaps think of his birthplace, Wyoming. 🆘️ 🆘️ 🆘️ The whole week was trying to find solution to following situation! Due to new changes to local vet standards and laws foals can not be released from breeding farm without quarantine on the farm and special blood test that will provide the needed papers for transportation. Usualy we were making all of it after buying a horse on our private quarantine. But government breeding farm needs a month of quarantine anyway to keep them and pay all vet bills. Paradox is that if they sell them to slaughter they need nothing of it!!!! It is nonsense! Stupidity of highest level... So farm asks will we pay quarantine and rest or they return prepared money and sell them to slaughter. For them second solution is faster and easier. No way to overcome it😥 We have to solve it by tomorrow. Question cost and maintaining for them all on month will cost 2520$ Will we do it?
