✖️STOP BELIEVING EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON THE INTERNET✖️ Yesterday on IG I saw a post that made a very positive claim about a certain company. Out of curiosity I did a quick Google search, found the original article, and discovered the claim made by this person was false. Today on Facebook I saw a political post with some “stats.” Being the researcher I am, I once again sought out legitimate studies and resource that disproved some (but not all) of the posts claims. Social media and the internet are wonderful for SO MANY reasons. However, it gives us access to anything and everything at the click of a button - including misinformation. It frustrates and hurts me when I see blatantly false information being shared, especially when the information can be hurtful or detrimental to a person/group of people. So all of this to say, be smart about what you believe on the internet, and this even goes for when you compare yourself to others IG profiles. Not everything you see or read is reality, and if you are able to, do your own research to form an opinion. If you aren’t able to, take everything with a grain of salt, because it’s a lot easier to produce false information than it is to produce accurate information. - - - - #rantover #doyoureesearch #dontbelievethemedia #psychologydegree #phdlife #researchlife #fakenews
