Just because something isn’t published professionally, doesn’t mean it’s lower quality or somehow lesser. Fan fiction has made me laugh, it’s made me cry, and it’s moved me in ways that many published novels haven’t. These authors take your favorite characters and create whole worlds with unique story lines, character backgrounds, and more and they do it all for free. What more could you possibly ask for?

And there are so many options! You want a Coffee Shop AU? We’ve got that. You want something that’s Enemies to Lovers with a lot of angst? Easy to find! If you can think of it, there’s probably a fic for that in your favorite fandom.

I know this is a rant on Tumblr that no one will ever see but if I can change even one person’s mind about the legitimacy of fanfiction, I’ve accomplished something.

Call me a nerd if you want but I’ll step up to bat for fanfic and fanfic authors any day.

Watching a lot of shoujo lately. Technically the reference model for this character is Aoshi Shinamori from Rurouni Kenshin, which is shonen, but he checks off the list as well. Shipping is a fun distraction/escape :)
