Water theft in the Jordan Valley
This farmer Haiel Mahmoud Ipsharat has to go 3km to pay a decent sum of money for water — even though he lives right next to the water source.
Mekarot, an Israeli water company, has stolen the water nearby to sell to Israeli colonists. They've stolen the water from the Palestinian families and farmers that have lived on the land for generations.
The Israeli army also confiscates Palestinian water tanks, and harasses them when they protest for their water rights.
The water theft has gotten so bad around Fasayil village that the farming land has shrunk from water shortage by 88%.
