Plum & Orange Water Infusion at the Office
Being a alky girl i.e someone who enjoys spending the day chilling in a beautiful place with drinks and writing, having a day to day job really feels like it cramps your style sometimes.
Making something as simple as a water infusion to enjoy at lunch time really inspired me to start making myself a special, non-alcoholic drink to look forward to everyday at work. A way to stay connected with my jercocktails’ side while learning and growing in a new work environment.
Living in Kenya is wonderful because we get the best, most diverse seasonal fruits that are available super cheap. One can only take advantage.
Plums and local oranges make a great citrus water infusion mix. When you’re feeling sluggish in your day, a simple drink filled with electrolytes is a great alternative to a cup of coffee. All it takes is a little creativity and preparation.
Making a sumptuous water infusion normally takes at least 12 hours.. Have a look at my Lemon & Orange Infused Water recipes to get an idea of all the benefits of a well prepared infusion. However, If you’re lucky enough to have a fridge in your office, there’s no reason why you can’t indulge in this delightful snack & drink combo.
As soon as I get to work, I chop up the fruit of the day, fill it in a tall glass with fresh water and stash it in the fridge with a little ice. Every hour, I like to take a break from my desk and stir the glass a little.
With this particular infusion, there is nothing that appeals to me as much as the color contrast and combination. All it takes is a few hours in the fridge and you have a healthy, energetic boost in the middle of your work day. Infused water, and, the added bonus of a fruit snack after, can boost your metabolism, fill you up so you can avoid unhealthy food choices, encourage your digestive processes all while flushing out toxins and potentially boost your mood to help you cope with the rest of the day!
Oranges have more than a dozen benefits, including boosting energy and your immune system, regulating high blood pressure and kickstarting your body’s detox.
Drinking is always fun when it’s done responsibly. By enjoying non-alcoholic beverages throughout the beginning of the week, you can prepare your body for another responsible weekend of fun and creating memories.
