i have a feeling that collith was just her first love interest (besides ollie) and laurie will be her true love/endgame... too many things are happening for it not to be the case... these three books are just a setting up for them... there’s much more to unfold with these two... or a poly relationship between the three? it wouldn’t be a surprise considering collith and laurie’s past relationship...

Fortuna Sworn doesn’t get the hype/fandom attention it deserves. That is all
Review: Restless Slumber by K.J. Sutton
"Before I met you, I thought Nightmares were creatures of pain and darkness. Why, then, are you constantly seeking freedom and light?" Fortuna's entire life has changed. She has no idea how to balance her new responsibilities and who she used to be. There are hundreds of faeries in her head, her brother seems to have lost touch with reality, and a werewolf won’t leave her side. Maybe the utter lack of control is why her abilities seem to be changing, as well. Then there’s Collith. Enigmatic, beautiful, and infuriating. Not only a king of the faeries she despises so much, but also her mate. His gentle pursuit causes confusion in her normally unwavering relationship with Oliver. As a result of it all, Fortuna now finds herself surrounded by new enemies and ones from the past. The question isn’t whether she is strong enough to make change in such a corrupt court. It’s whether she will survive long enough to do it.
Goodreads - Amazon
Faced with so many threats against her and her brother Damon, Fortuna decides that it's time to get away from the Unseelie Court and return home... at least for a while. It's also the perfect opportunity to find the pack of that werewolf who is so faithful to her and never separates from her side, so he can finally reunite with his own. However, all her plans crumble at every new obstacle in her path. Fortuna must face terrible creatures, from fae and werewolves, to a very angry witch, while trying to decipher the depth of her power that drags her more and more into the darkness. I had a love/hate relationship with Fortuna in this book. On the one hand, I loved her strength and courage, I loved her power and the creativity that it created, the way it grew and transformed into something really dark. But on the other hand, I didn't like that her impulsive nature got her into so many problems, in addition to her distrust and incessant indecision when it came to trusting Collith. It's just that Collith was so beautiful in this book. He was so patient, so kind and understanding. He had some really beautiful and very sweet gestures, and also he's learning to trust, revealing some of his secrets that broke my heart and allowed us to know him much better. I also liked Laurie much more in this sequel. In fact, I think he was my favorite character. He becomes much more open, more daring and playful. His carefree and funny personality made me love him and of course I loved his spicy interactions with Fortuna. And with Collith. His constant attempts to cause chaos and discord created really funny scenes that left me smiling. And then we have Oliver in his most vulnerable and desperate phase, since Fortuna is forgetting him. The perfect and sweet boy finally shows his most sensitive and... human side. My heart broke for Ollie, thinking of all the suffering he was going through. But at the same time, all that pain led him to overcome himself, creating stunning dream landscapes. The settings represented through Fortuna's dreams were so beautiful and creative, so unique and full of imagination. They were amazing and blew my mind. Finally, we have Finn the werewolf, who is very mysterious and I feel that he has a lot of secrets. I love his loyalty to Fortuna and I'm very curious about him. The truth is there are a lot of new characters in this book, a great diversity in personalities, powers and type of beings, all of them very interesting. The display of supernatural creatures was impressive, I loved their gifts and that creepy touch that each of them had. We learn much more about werewolves, their customs and their nature, the dynamics of a pack. All this was so intriguing and at the same time really creepy because of the cruelty they showed. The plot of this book was so interesting and it caught me in the story from beginning to end. I love the subject of this book and how everything complicates more and more with each page. There was so much action and adrenaline with epic battles, lots of adventure and fantasy in an impressive display of magic. It also had that dark and spooky touch that I love so much. In addition to new secrets being revealed and generating really good twists and turns. I loved that new things happened all the time, the creativity in this series is amazing and it hooked me in a really addictive reading. And the end destroyed me. It had such an impressive battle, the last pages of this book were amazing. I felt too many emotions with this story, it made me cry a lot and completely destroyed me. But I loved it too. However, that ending was so open and it left me like a crazy person dying to read the next book, absolutely obsessed with this story and its characters. I LOVED it!
Restless Slumber (Fortuna Sworn #2)
I would like to thank K.J Sutton for my copy of the ARC. Due to this kind gesture, I have decided to leave an honest review.
Yikes, my mind is blown! Yes, I cried real tears, heartbreaking tears, at a loss. Or was it?!
Fortuna just wants her brother back to normal, for everything to snap back into place but when you not only have old enemies to worry about, why not chuck some new ones into the mix! Still trying to adjust to her role as Fae Queen, she struggles to keep everything together. What can I say? It can't be easy with literally everyone's voice at court in your head, two kings who have piqued interest in you or how about a murderous alpha wanting your head? Will our little nightmare get through each step, or will they all be heart-wrenching as the last?
As the first instalment was so heavily plot-based I was a bit confused about where the story was going and why in the second book. Now, I always find this with either the first or second instalment of a series. I find myself asking a lot of questions, but then I realised I think what was the whole point! Fortuna worked so hard to get her brother back, they were trying to build their lives back up, and it's not easy when one half of it strongly dislikes you!
I really liked the turmoil inside Fortuna, let's face it, she isn't entirely good, and it's awesome! You see her battle with herself over right or wrong and I AM LIVING FOR IT! When the wolves are knocking at your door, why don't you blow the house down first?
I genuinely love all our characters. Fortuna is a force to be reckoned with, there is no stopping her. We start to see Damon come out of his shell more, which I am loving! What if he turns total badass like his sister?! Lyari is amazing, she actually reminds me of Brienne of Tarth from GoT's, two words.. YASS QUEEN! Our lovely werewolf has a name, Finn! and he's is so lovely your heartbreaks. Emma & Fred who are absolutely delightful. Oh.. and a mini-me.
Can we have some appreciation for our male catergory?! Adam is so mysterious I am itching to know more! Who thought I would be going cray over vampires again? Laurie is so cocky, and I find cocky is a good thing, a great thing actually! Until you stick your tongue somewhere unwanted.. tut tut. Collith had my heart my mouth, I gen up thought I was taking a heart attack at one point. Then our lovely Oliver, PLEASE GOD LET HIM BE FREE!! the feels are real here, I just want him out in the open! I want him to be a part of this crazy-ass world. My teeth hurt because he is so bloody SWEET!
All in all, the first half of the book I did struggle with a bit, but the second half of the book had me gripped all over again, I was living for it. When I say the tears were real, I mean it. What happens had me shocked and shook just like the first book, I am now begging K.J for the third instalment so I can get my next hit!
Oh and guys we are no longer in a PG 13 area, this book is waaaay hotter than the first!
"Here is what I know," Oliver mumered finally, his drowsy face raised towards the heavens. "That the first thing we always do on a dark night is look up. Always."
