Using old MS game files (Minesweeper, etc)

Hey tech folks. I have a backup of files from my old Win7 computer that includes those iterations of the games that used to be included with Windows. I'm currently on Windows 10 and really want to play Minesweeper. I don't want to get the new version from the MS Store with freaking ads, and I don't want to play on a website because I want an offline version.

I have the old Win7 game files. Do I need to get a Windows 7 emulator to be able to play them? Nothing happens when I try to open the .exe.

Along the same lines, I seem to recall a website that had versions of classic software that could be used on modern platforms........? Like to download. I can't remember anything so I might be wrong. I don't mind the XP or earlier versions of these games.

I just wanna play my computer games......

A bonus CD-ROM for Windows and Mac that was included in the official Japanese player's guide for Doubutsu no Mori+ (Animal Crossing) on GameCube. It includes a clock application and Animal Crossing-themed desktop icons. There is another application that copies the clock executable and the icons to a folder of the user's choice.

NOTE: This CD-ROM only works properly if your computer's region is set to Japan. All of the Japanese text is non-unicode and will not render properly on modern English operating systems; the copying application also does not run unless the system is set to Japan, and the OS will think some folders are corrupted. The programs and folders seem to work perfectly on a Windows 10 machine with the region set to Japan.
