Retroaction

'Burn the clock', they say unfettered hands spinning from 12 to 6 again crying for that antiquated time and like starting a novel halfway in we're lost on the context so stoeln from us by the kneejerk so we fall helplessly in the rut again ironic that it was that very fate that they hoped to avoid 'Kill the past', they say rather squash those mistakes than to take what you can learn from those speed bumps we make and like clockwork and groundhog day we're beholden to the same pitfalls we swore we never stoop to so careless the self awareness of the fault how ironic to demand the past gone when you have nothing to offer for the future What was fine then we should be offended now destroy the monuments reality must cow tow to our petty sensibilities history must flex to our brow retroactively reaping the next offense anyway how They spit on our past shove their future down our throats offer nothing for the present they'll console you with fantasy they'll discard all traces of reality they'll change their minds retroactively 'Burn the clock', they say Kevin hart is a homophobe now when he was a comedian 6 years ago 'Kill the past', they say depicting bullying is wrong even if it means learning why 'Burn the clock', they say General Lee is a racist when he was nobody then 'Kill the past', they say Kanye west is a lunatic when he was a visionary before And like spinning another unfinished web we're left curious by the censorship the controversy amplified by the morality screeching ironic in their attempts to call it out in silence everyone is now applauding it What was okay now must be gaslighted remove any semblance of offense from sight demonize all words like a poisonous bite retroaction raping our fundamental rights They'll spit on your past shove a future down your throat offer nothing for the present they'll console you with fantasy they'll discard all traces of reality They'll change their minds retroactively The clock is getting smaller the ruler we measure is getting smaller our petty sensibilities are getting larger our desire to placate is getting harder soon there will be nothing to enjoy nothing that someone will toy to make it as politically correct to employ no future for these girls and boys if you let retroaction take hold A latent reminder this is all relative reality doesn't care if their annoyed history won't bend because their offended the past doesn't stop existing because they decide it so look the beast in the eye face it for all of it's might ignore it all they like closing your eyes to it closing your mind to it won't prove you right.
