TADC: Scratch's Toybox!

A horror based AU where TADC's digital world was designed for terminally ill patients or people on the brink of death to live out their lives pain free at the sacrifice of their bodies, but it gets discontinued after the morality of ending lives comes into play!

The Toybox was created as a form of resuscitation to digitally preserve the minds of the terminally ill and those involved in any accidents. How it was initially supposed to work was in the form of a kind of VR world, their scans would be uploaded into the database for those in the regular world, family and friends for example, to be able to wear the headset and communicate with them whenever they wanted. It was supposed to be a world free from the pain of their physical bodies.

Initially, each patient would've been told they can create what their mind deems a paradise in their own separate pocket worlds, similarly to how the Adventure portals work in canon TADC, but open forever in place of their bedrooms. Their corresponding doors would take them to those areas where they're free to exist with occasional check ins from The Caretaker.

The idea was approached by a shady company promoting the idea of making it some kind of Metaverse type project open to paying customers, charging people an extortionate price to essentially painlessly euthanise them and let them live freely for as long as their payment upholds, forcing their next of kin to handle their finances in case of any failed payments.

C&A tested it out a couple of times while preparing to finalise it for Scratch (Mike Dobby), experimenting on those on the brink of death without their consent because they needed subjects to prove that it worked.

Eventually, shortly after Mike had been scanned into the toybox himself, their idea was discovered and the ethics were brought into the equation. Those involved were quickly arrested for multiple cases of Murder and Healthcare Serial Killing. A few instances of the world had been littered around due to employees working from home on their laptops.

Connections still existed here and there through abandoned computers, most having been severed from a lack of power.

The building was abandoned and the remaining patients that had been scanned into the toybox were left to live forever inside a misrepresented world with rotting code, and an overseer that seemed to be stuck in a loop.
