Omar tried to find the good in the changes made for 100th games, a year of training might help the tributes develop some much needed skills. He wanted them prepared for many situations. Still the Capital was never a place he wanted to be, it was so. . .surreal with how the citizens lived their life. No hardship or sense of reality just a dream of indulgence and color. Omar said very little focusing his attention on pocket book on the train ride to the Capital. Internally he rolled his eyes seeing the Capital skyline blur by, this would be his home for the year. Omar lead the others off the train and to stay together so they didn’t get desperate. A sudden gust of wind knocked off his hat to block out the sun’s rays. The young man went to go pick it up but another person picked it up.
“Can I have my hat back, please?” he asked the other approaching them.
The Alpha slipped in the city unnoticed without difficulty, his sleek black car gliding easily over the wet pavement in the early morning. His face was set in stone, eyes focused on the empty street before him and the destination he was trying to reach. The dark shadows of his home soon came into view and he thought it safe to flick on the headlights for a fraction of a second, only to guide himself into the garage before killing the engine and letting a slow breath escape his lungs. The past month had changed the beast, morphing thoughts in his mind and pulling emotions out he thought frozen long ago.
When the Alpha pulled out of the city a month ago he knew that Alice was already dead, the witches would not risk keeping her alive long enough for Adrian to see her once more, revenge was their game and they played it well. The loss of Alice broke a piece off of his stone heart but it was the though of another life that concerned him more than hers. This would be one he would not fail, he could not, it was the only life he held above his own, the only one that now meant anything to him, and he was sleeping in the back of the Range Rover. His name was Lucian Dimir and he was Adrian's only son.
Adrian had approached Alice's safe home with vigor, the gun in his hand cocked and loaded, aching for it's first victim, though when he stepped into the home he was greeted with one already dead. Alice's blonde hair was stained red with her own blood, wide and frightened eyes were frozen on one spot in the room, one where he knew Lucian slept. The loud clang of the gun echoed in the desolate room, the weapon Adrian let fall to the ground as he moved toward his beloved, his large hands slipping around her now cold form, pulling her close to his chest as he buried his head into her hair. The Alpha's grip was almost crushing, the pain radiating in his chest a new and unwanted feeling but could not rid of. Time was of the essence at this moment though he wished for it to stop, wishing was a child's thing and he knew he had to act quickly if he did not want his only son to suffer the same fate. Slowly he rose with her body still in his hands and headed out into the darkness, letting his senses take over as he searched for a spot to bury his heart.
The next time Adrian felt a fraction of relief was almost two weeks later when he was standing in the middle of a field painted red, the small bundle that was his son tucked safely in his arms and the eyes of his captors, Alice's murderers ,were resting on the ground as well. There he stood with a heaving chest, open wounds adding to the covered ground and the moon hanging high above, illuminating the scene before him, but the Alpha took no notice, only focused on Lucian, the was his short brown strands of hair rested messily upon his face and how his body was free of injuries. He had not failed his son, the boy still lived and took after his father, his features the same and heart strong and beating. Slowly the Alpha turned, glancing at the field before him one last time, no longer would those foul witches be a problem for him or anyone else, he had eliminated them all and his promise was kept, all of this ended with him.
Now the man sat in his car, the sound of Lucian's beating heart filled his ear drums. Never had he had a son, never had someone meant so much to him and, never had the Alpha felt this sort of mild panic. Yes he was a cold man, but unknowingly to him he had a good heart, displayed in small acts and now in the caring of his son. He knew this city was no place to a child but he had a duty here, one he would not relinquish, so he decided Lucian would be a secret, only he would know of his son and that is what would keep him safe.
With a low breath he pulled himself from the drivers seat and opened the back door, peering down at his sleeping son and a small smile pulled at the man's lips. This was something he had to do, he had to raise his son and keep him out of harms way and this was the single most important job to him. Lifting his son with no effort he walked into his home, closing out the darkness and the rest of the world as well.
