First Encounters

Over the years, Yiang Hyunh had come to expect many troubles as a traveling cook.
Being harassed by bandits (pigs this time) that wanted his earnings was almost like clockwork: get ambushed, hear them brag about themselves, hand over your money, and watch in annoyance as they take your belongings and scatter them all over the barren trail.
Seriously, he just cleaned that pot!
Today turned out different - and not in a good way. Instead of being attacked by some garden-variety thugs out in the fields, he wound up getting cornered by slave traders...in the village?!
Where in Quan Am’s grace were all the guards for this place?! Better yet where was everyone else? Judging by the distant screams, though, perhaps it was best the moon bear didn’t entertain that thought.
“P-Please, I do not wish to be take away! I am only a simple old cook!”
“Oh that won’t be a problem, old man,” a rather slim figure in black and red robes tauntingly replied, “we’ve got clients that ain’t too picky. Bag ‘em up, boys.”
“Oh no,” as the scoundrels came closer, Yiang shielded his face with his hands and dropped into a fearful crouch, “...no-no-no-no-NO! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!”
