I haven’t had any new jobs for a bit, but we’ve been busy with holiday celebrations. Becca and Bobby are expecting their first child - I can’t believe we’ll have a baby running around this little apartment soon! 

We’ve had letters from a few branches of our family. Everyone is well, but they miss their husbands and fathers. I miss my brothers - but I’ve heard from them recently, and I know they’re still alright, somewhere over there.

I traveled to Brindleton to welcome Tim back from the war. Wish I could see Allen, too, but his home is in Henford-on-Bagley now. It was a bittersweet reunion - I’m so glad my brothers are safe, but our second cousin Reuben Meyer and Tim’s brother-in-law Alvin Wright were both killed in combat before the end of the war.

Mom couldn’t stop crying as I was getting ready to leave for service. I’m sure there’s a lot of tearful goodbyes going on. I don’t envy Tim, who’s leaving his young sons behind, or Allen, who leaves a pregnant wife.

What a wonderful Christmas. There’s something about the holiday season that can raise even the lowest spirits. Everyone in the extended family is well, it seems, and we’re very glad of it.
