I dreamt of an advert last night, not a real one, for a plumbing company.
It involved Gandalf, in a completely normal, modern, average British house, desperately fighting Orks in his plumbing and heating systems (as in, they were climbing through the pipes, covering his shower head in limescale, fiddling with the boiler, etc), with his staff, getting increasingly angered as this goes on.
And as he finally snaps, the Plumber shows up, with light streaming in behind him from the open door, and wearing a billowing cape over his overalls and utility belt. He goes and fixes it, and shoos the Orks out of the house. It was absolutely brilliant.
The vibe was somewhere between Cillit-Bang's
"HI I'M BARRY SCOTT!"
And Chaindrite's (the Thai insect spray)
"die. all die"
The plumber was a live action guy, but thinking about it, his moustache looked rather like Luigi's.
I would hire these guys in a heartbeat.
3 years ago today: Barry Scott (if you are from the UK you will know) recorded a video promoting my bands EP “Bang!”.
This was one of my proudest moments and I will never forget it. A true legend.
If you are curious you can check out the EP on all streaming services. Just search for “JB & the Gang!”.
Good memories 💚
I haven’t had any new jobs for a bit, but we’ve been busy with holiday celebrations. Becca and Bobby are expecting their first child - I can’t believe we’ll have a baby running around this little apartment soon!
We’ve had letters from a few branches of our family. Everyone is well, but they miss their husbands and fathers. I miss my brothers - but I’ve heard from them recently, and I know they’re still alright, somewhere over there.
Christmas morning was perfect. Lily put her artistic talents to making the place look festive and Lynne made socks for everyone, with mamá’s help. For dinner we had a terrific ham, courteously of Betsy and Lois. All the girls have been on their best behaviour so Santa brings them the gifts they want. I hope they can keep it up into the new year...
I got a Christmas card from cousins in Brindleton Bay, Rodney and Barry (Uncle Tim’s sons). Rodney’s married now and has a girl about the triplet’s age.
The cousins in HOB (Uncle Allen’s kids) also wrote. Cousin Charlotte is still unmarried, but Marvin and Melvin both got hitched and have little ones of their own.
It sounds like the rest of the Scott family are also having a perfect Christmas.

Barry Scott died, he did a lot of the voice over for TNA wrestling back in the day.
I saw and that shit sucked to hear. He was one of the key aspects that helped make TNA come off as legit when it came to show openings, show closings, vignettes, everything. He had one of those voices that carried a lot of gravity which made everything feel monumental and made people look like stars before the match even started. Even helped make their one and so far only console game feel like a big deal. Truly a big part of TNA that is missed.
