Any headcanons about Gideon and Pacifica in Reverse Falls
Hooooo, boy. I’m glad you asked.
Paz is still the daughter of the esteemed and rich Northwests, but she is very unorthodox. She hates flaunting her wealth and prefers to act like a normal kid, much to her parents’ dismay. She also doesn’t let them bully her, shutting them down whenever they try to.
Paz’s best friend is Gideon, who she met at school when she signed up for a tutoring program to help the younger students. She thinks he’s funny and spirited, not to mention smart as hell. It became a ritual to go to his house after school and hang out since his dad needed somebody to look after him anyway while he was out selling cars.
Gideon doesn’t really need the tutoring program, but the rest of his classmates were failing, so he got lumped in. Hes glad for it now, because Paz is a joy to be around. Most days, they would just go hang out with Stanley or Mr. McGucket and listen to stories.
When the pines twins arrived, that’s when their lives took a sudden shift. Paz was going to Gideon’s house to find a very scared and upset Stan. He basically told her that his niblings had commandeered Gideon’s house, and to be hospitable, Stan had set the family up at his place.
Gideon is very upset by all of this and just wants his home back. But after seeing what Mabel and Dipper can do, his father isn’t dealing with that. They spend that summer helping Stan run the shack, a little scared to be out and about with the hell spawn that have arrived for the summer.
Gideon finds Journal 3 much like canon!Dipper did. And he immediately takes it to Paz. It’s much different from the canon Journal, filled with much more detailed, scientific diagrams, going so far as to compare the taste of non humanoid creatures, and comments on their organ placement.
The things that scared them the most, however, was the ability to access and summon dark things. This is only the third journal. If Dipper and Mabel found the other two, things could get really. Bad.
They decided to use the journal for good, trying to put a stop to Dipper and Mabel’s tyranny. To no avail. The twins had journal 2, and had already used it to strengthen their innate powers. This is where Paz and Gideon meet Will, weak and starved of power and friendship. They begin to try and help him, finding that he has a massive need to destroy those journals. “If those books come together…. it signals the end of your world.”
Will eventually goes back to the twins out of fear of their punishments for him getting worse. And things progress much like the canon series does.
When Fiddleford learns that the four kids had had the other two journals all along, and learns that Stanley has them now, He fucking runs to the shack and into the basement, followed by Paz and Gideon. A fight between the two adults commences, with Fidds being the losing side and Ford coming through the portal.
Paz and Gideon are instantly a little hesitant to be around him. He gave off the vibe of a serial killer or something, and just…. something wasn’t right about Stanford Pines.
Things for them only get worse from there. Stanford condones the twins’ behaviour, and it prompts them to act even more like little shits. Paz, being the older and more perceptive of the two, also senses some seriously twisted and messed up shit going on with that family, and tries to shield Gideon from it at all costs.
When Will brings on weirdmageddon, Paz and Gideon are scared. It’s a chaotic response, trying to tell abusers everywhere that their shit will not be tolerated. They watch as the end of days sends the Pines into a fear bubble. this is more than any of them anticipated.
They go to Fiddleford for help, receiving a “If Ford didn’t want this to happen, he shouldn’t have been pushing a demon capable of this. He shouldn’t have pushed me.” This is where Paz and Gideon find out that Will, as a sort of thank you, granted him the abilities and powers that Bill promised canon!ford.
“This is natural selection, kids. Just let it happen.”
Paz and Gideon are now forced to work with the Pines against the clock. Ford knows a way to stop Will, but they need to talk Fidds down from his moral high horse. And they watch as he does, breaking down crying and apologizing for every little fucked up thing he ever said or did.
They try to use the zodiac to stop Will, but there’s an accident, and Fiddleford gets hurt because Will is angry that he’d betray his trust. Paz. Gets. Pissed. And starts to stand up and yell at Will.
“Just because a few people are assholes doesn’t mean that everybody has to suffer. Instead of taking your pain out on the world, just cut the problems out of your life and surround yourself with people who care! If you go out and look for help, you will find it.”
Eventually, through raw determination and willpower, Will is talked down, and Paz initiates the most awkward forgiveness session of all time.
By the time Dipper and Mabel leave Gravity Falls, Pacifica and Gideon have pretty much solidified the notion that bullies and abusers get nowhere, and that this kind of shit will not be tolerated on their turf.
“Next summer, if you try this shit again, we won’t be so generous.”
