Intentions for the Month of December #reverb16
For the month of December, I’ll be participating in #reverb16, a month long series of writing prompts (You can find out more about it on Sarah Bagley’s blog as well as join the Facebook community).
Intentions. Let’s set our intention for the month of December on writing, creativity, and expression. What do you hope to get out of a month of writing each day? What is your favorite part about writing – the idea, the first words, the final sentiments?
Writing, for me, is all about uncovering what’s hidden within.
It’s about putting thoughts and feelings into words, trying to explain, if only to myself, what’s going on within myself, within my community, within the greater world.
Of course, the shadow side is I find myself at odds myself when it comes to writing a lot, and a lot of it has to do with my audience.
Should I share this? Should I keep it private? What’s the point if nobody reads it?
I worry too much about how I’ll be received, and sometimes that just stops me in my tracks.
Part of my intentions for this challenge is to just push myself forward without worry, perhaps tackle some subjects that I might not otherwise think of.
My favorite part about writing is that there’s an element of surprise to it. Sometimes what I set out thinking I was going to write ends up being nothing like my end result, often I realize that how I’d been thinking about things isn’t the reality.
So, my intention for this month is to write without expectations, and hopefully be pleasantly surprised by where I end up.
