A Love Story in Reverse
Re-watching She-Ra with the beautifully official canon knowledge that Catra and Adora have always been head over heels in love with each other and are wives in the near future... just makes watching all the Catradora moments in the show that much more incredible. Because you realize that within the journey was basically the whole saga of their romance, from first figuring things out to then finally admitting their feelings for each other aloud and wanting each other to stay. It’s a nice little reminder any time you watch them together -- that one day they end up together and married. Really puts things into perspective ;)
Especially during the episode “Princess Prom”
Watch how Catra gets all spiffied up wanting to impress Adora and make an impact. Not to mention, how she must’ve felt putting on dress clothes for what I assume is the first time. I don’t know where she got her hands on that suit but I can tell those were her own style choices as they just scream Catra. Which... I can’t say so much for Adora’s outfit simply because she seems to have a bad sense of style unless it’s something that’s given to her, and it does take her a while to find out who she is and what she ultimately wants for herself.
You can think of that Catradora dance as their first couple’s dance like at their wedding; it was the first time they were allowed to be formal and free with each other like that and see each other in a different light than they ever had. You better believe Catra pumped her mojo up to the max (as if she needed to try anyway) to woo Adora (aka her future wife) the entire time, using the Horde stuff as an excuse to get close to her, taking advantage of it a bit, sure, but mainly asserting her attractiveness and her mad leading dance skills to get Adora’s attention. And she got it.
The thing that really fills my heart is really any moment in the show when Catra and Adora are “fighting” and then there’s a split second when they accidentally get too close and they are both left breathless and speechless. Yeah... all that bravado goes to shit when one of the girls grabs the other and then they almost kiss =P it’s like oh fuck, yes, I feel things for this person, and even though I wanted to push her away... the second she pulls me close, all my fears and doubts, insecurities, anger, hurt, resentment, fights, mission, being on opposite sides of a battle... vanish... because truth is... I’m in love with her. They’ve been in love with each other their whole lives, the whole show. And it’s a beautiful thing to watch them grow and then finally admit it, and then knowing one day they get married as well.
Not to be dramatic, but I 100% would die for Bow.
