Rewrite Devlog #2

Hello, it's Boot again!

We've been working more on rewrite this past month, laying more of the foundations for a functioning game.

We have several menu sprites and mockups ready for inclusion.

As well as various sprites for snacks Simon may be carrying in his pockets.

Outside of spritework, our devs have been working to lay out more of the map, and build possibly the most important system in any game, the save point. We have been working to have player data stored in a file to be accessible at later points in the game.

Rewrite Devlog #1

Hello, I'm Boot, the Producer and one of the programmers for Rewrite Our Narrative! I'm here to share our development progress so far!

For those who are unaware, Rewrite Our Narrative is a JRPG style adventure where a boy named Simon gains the power of creation and searches for the Key to the Realms to save the universe.

Our first stretch of development over the last several months has been our attempt to lay the groundwork for the game, which started with placing our main character in the world!

Here's Simon! Right now he can really only walk around, not much else going on in that head. We also gave him a friend to follow him around!

This was done with a cutscene trigger to stop input while interacting, then track her location to be behind Simon.

Then we gave him a small neighborhood to wander around, testing collision and getting a basis for the overall map.

More things we're working on are getting the inventory and player menu set up, as well as the text engine for flavor text and dialogue.
