Me: There’s a good chance Rey and Poe could end up together, and yeah it makes sense that Rey’s parents were just two jerks who sold their daughter -

*hears theory that Poe and Rey might be brother and sister *

Me: We haven’t crossed into accidental incest and if Rey can have a brother, and StormPilot happens, I am all for it.

Okay but what if kylo realizes she wants to be a lady Jedi instead of an angsty sith guy and her, Rey, Finn, and Poe all from together and live a quiet happy life on the rim somewhere

Honestly it surprises me that people still think they know who Rey’s parents are. I mean, there are public objective facts that that make it impossible for Rey to be related to any legacy character.

Rey was originally envisioned as a dark-skinned woman. She was colorblind cast. The runner-up to play her is Asian. She was envisioned with an American accent, but given a British accent because Daisy couldn’t do an American accent. If her race and accent are completely arbitrary characteristics then how in the hell can they be used as evidence of a relationship to pre-existing characters?

As far as I’m concerned, the only possible options are;

1) Her family have not yet been introduced

2) She’s a Hux. And that’s only a possibility if Domhnall Gleeson was cast after Daisy AND the call sheet for Hux specified that the character had to be white and British. And even then it wouldn’t make for that great a case for Rey Hux. Rey and Hux never meet, Hux never mentions his father or anything he got up to on Jakku that was mentioned in tie-in material, and there’s no story parallels or symbolism or juxtaposition hinting at any kind of connection or an inevitable meeting in TFA, or to Hux being anything more than another flat villain following in the footsteps of Tarkin, Krennic, Darth Maul, and Count Dooku.
