write a meta on steve's favorite and least favorite modern 'conveniences?' or maybe his opinion on social media?

steve really isn’t an old curmudgeon about technology.  for the most part,  he really enjoys technological advancements.  he likes knowing how things work. and while he doesn’t have the tech know-how of someone like tony, he does a pretty good idea of breaking things down and figuring them out. 

i think, for the most part, steve really likes apps. mostly just because he thinks they’re neat.  i likes playing games on his phone or tablet.  especially word puzzles or trivia games. 

the big exception is dating apps. he doesn’t like dating apps. mostly just because he’s really bad at them. so he’s pretty much written them off as being a horrible thing. 

as for social media, steve doesn’t use it much. he would probably have a verified twitter account where he’d tweet on holidays and in response to current events. but i doubt he’d be super active on it. but it would be the first time people would actually get to find out that he has a sense of humor. so much  so that people would question if he was the one behind his tweets at all (he is). 

i think, he’d like the concept of instagram but wouldn’t actually have one. he really hasn’t mastered the selfie yet.  he’d just make appearances in other people’s posts.

                            Around them, his previous life lay in shambles, nothing more than ruins of what once was his daily routine as whatever had happened, had gone horribly wrong. Terror was bared on freckled features, there was no hiding the uncertainty and doubt as artificial eyes wandered over what remained of the place he had spent years in before landing on the girl. Strange as she was, something about her made him want to trust her, rely on a complete stranger and as words danced off her tongue, all he could do was nod along. For him there was no going back anymore, nothing he could pick up again without completely starting anew so as the last syllables of her question faded, Fergus found his voice again.   ❝   Oooh  -  okay.   ❞   Even among broken down walls and locked doors, he still knew his way around the place blindly. Determined to be of help  (  and in return remain alive  )  a hand came up to point in the general direction of a command centre and albeit it wouldn’t be empty, it would provide valuable information for the Resistance’s cause.   ❝   Thiiiiiis  wwwwh  wwh  -  way.   Iihhhh  Ihmmm  -  shit  -  Buuuut  you,  you  nhhh  nn  neeh  need  to  knhh  -  know,  I’m  nh  neither  fah  -  fast  nh  nor  a,  a  fighter.   ❞

“That’s why I asked it.” Mara coughed in reply, rolling to her side as she fought to catch her breath. Well, it was one reason--the other, more obvious one, was to hear Rey’s voice...to insure that the other woman was alive. The shifting rubble and light touch on her arm let her know the other’s location, Mara grunting with effort as she stood, a pain shooting down her arm in protest to the movement. “Kriff...” She buried her face in her elbow in an effort to quiet her coughing and to block out the dust--but it did little.

Mara took a few steps forward, a hand resting on the mentioned debris as she tried to get a sense of their surroundings. Her expression troubled as she heard the sounds of fighting--muffled as they were. “If the enemy is on the other side, that could give them an opportunity to attack.” It would take a substantial amount of focus to move this much rubble. “I say we take the hall. Quickly.”

          time moves strangely on ahch-to ; days pass in the blink of an eye, weeks can go on for years, months pass like hours and years stretch into eternity.  ( perhaps that’s simply a result of solitude. )  but it’s only been a few years --  LONG  years, perhaps, but only years and not an eternity -- and he’s not alone anymore. turning to face the girl who’s come so far to find him, luke holds her gaze for a long moment before gesturing with his mechanical hand and setting off towards a small hill just behind them.   ❝ come with me. ❞   he allows serenity to coat his words, a mask that covers the  TURMOIL  lurking beneath. in his years alone he’s fallen out of practice and back into doubts he’s long thought past. the prospect of  teaching  again seems almost too daunting a task to undertake.   ❝ leave everything behind. ❞   he indicates her staff and other belongings, but the words carry weight beyond the literal -- for the student and the master  BOTH.

“You’re ready, Rey. It’s time to build your own lightsaber.” A note of proud approval had entered Luke’s voice. He sat on his cloak with his legs folded underneath him. The pieces of his old lightsaber (his father’s lightsaber) were spread before him. The Jedi Master and apprentice pair were secluded away from the hustle and bustle of the main Resistance base. 

On arrival Luke had requested an out of the way training area for him and Rey. He’d set up what little he had from his hut knowing it would be sufficient for their needs. Almost every day he caught a vulptex observing them. He’d gently reach out to them with gentle curiosity with the Force much like he would with the porgs on Ahch-to. 

He’d learned a lot from his new Padawan. It was a good feeling to teach someone and trust that she was taking his lessons to heart. Together - the future wasn’t looking quite so bleak after all.

“I notice you’re more comfortable with your staff than you ever were with my lightsaber. Is a model based off that what you had in mind?”
