The White Light's Emissary and the Avatar of Miracles
Looks like we got another pair of Cardfight!! Vanguard and Precure characters that share the same birthday! And they're both protagonists! Everyone, say happy birthday to the one chosen by the white light, Honoka Yukishiro/Cure White from Futari wa Pretty Cure and it's sequel Max Heart! Then, let's say happy birthday to the boy who continues to reach for miracles with his bare hands, Akina Myodo from Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez!
By the way, stay tuned till the end for a special little fic~!
Let's start with Honoka!
Honoka Yukishiro is one of the main protagonists in Futari wa Pretty Cure, starting off the Pretty Cure series with her future friend, Nagisa Misumi. She's a popular student due to her intelligence and often does her best for everyone around her. One day, she found her dog Chuutaro pointing at something suspicious which allowed Honoka to discover a shining box. This shining box was filled with Mipple, her future fairy partner and a random set of cards. Mipple begged her to take her to Mepple so they could reunite and fight the forces of darkness. Once Mipple and Mepple met, Honoka was shocked to discover Nagisa had appeared too! When the forces of darkness attacked and threatened to end their world, the two fairies begged Honoka and Nagisa to use their power to transform, becoming the legendary Pretty Cure!
Personality wise, Honoka is a very sweet and intelligent girl who is often called the "Queen of Knowledge" by her classmates. She's always gentle and puts others before herself. Due to her intelligence, Honoka easily became popular inside of her school and mostly used her knowledge to help people. Even though she's serious about any of her passions, she can be strict and forceful if her buttons are pushed which can rarely happen. This can make her seem scary to others, but she's often strict cause she cares and wants people to do their best. Because she can be pushy, she can often be stubborn when doing her best to help people.
Honoka is voiced by Yukana who's known for voicing Mezool from Kamen Rider OOO, Meiling Li from Cardcaptor Sakura, Cecelia Alcott from Infinite Stratos, Dusk (Xi) from Arknights, Niyon from Granblue Fantasy, Felicia from Darkstalkers, Miho Nosaka from the Toei Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, Lalamon from Digimon Savers/Data Squad, Reinforce Zwei from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, Anemone Monemone from Oshi no Ko, and so much more!
Honoka is such a cute baby girl! I've recently started watching Futari wa in my free time so I could write my Vanguard x Precure au post and it's an excuse for me to watch the og girls in action! So far, I really adore Honoka! She's very adorable and so sweet! Like if I could, I would 1000% pinch her cheeks and platonically spoil her like a little sister~! Cause she is my little sister! Legit if she asked me to murder someone for her, I'm already on it- she doesn't need to ask.
Now let's talk about Akina!
Akina Myodo is one of the main protagonists within the new series of Cardfight!! Vanguard (at least at the time of this post), Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez. When we first meet him in season 1 of Divinez, Akina is a young high school student who's doing his best to take care of his ill sister, Hikari. One day, a messenger offered him an invitation to play Cardfight!! Vanguard in a tournament called the Fated Clash, a magical tournament that has six players that represent each nation in the game with Akina being Keter Sanctuary. If he won, Akina would be granted a wish. ANY kind of wish. Wanting to heal his sick sister, Akina decided to play Vanguard for the first time in order to heal his sister! During the events of season 3 though, Akina would end up becoming lost after realizing he doesn't have a reason to play Vanguard anymore since he only played it because he had to for his sister. This time, Akina would be invited to an official tournament named Deluxe so he could fight strong players. Maybe this tournament would help him realize why he'll keep playing...
Personality wise, Akina is a very sweet boy with a heart of gold. He's a very mature and level headed boy who rarely gets angry and has a very pure soul, so pure that no evil can corrupt it. He deeply cares for his younger sister and his friends and will do anything to protect what he holds dear. At the same time, he's very stubborn when he's decided what he needs to do, and it's VERY hard to dissuade him once he's made up his mind. He's also a very empathetic man who always attempts to reach out to others whenever they're suffering. Secretly, Akina blames himself for the incident that led up to his sister becoming so sickly, always wishing he could have done better and be a better brother. Because of this, Akina gave up everything he wanted to do in order to protect his sister. But there is one thing that he lives by. "Even if it's just a glimmer of hope, a miracle will descend upon those who reach out their hand!"
Akina is voiced by Toshiya Miyata who's also part of the band that sings the anime's third opening and is a HUGE fan of Nana Mizuki (just like me!)! He's known for voicing Yuan Kasai and Mitsuki Kasai from Delicious Party Pretty Cure, Black Hole from Kinnikuman (also known as Ultimate Muscle from the 4kids dub) Perfect Origin Arc, Hanzam from The Healer Who Was Banished From His Party, Is, in Fact, the Strongest, Liam Sera Banfield (previous life) from I'm the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire!, Yujia Takamatsu from BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!, and so much more! He's mostly known for his live action roles, but he's doing great!
Akina's main deck is a Keter Sanctuary deck with his ace unit being the Fated One of Miracles, Rezael! Rezael is one of the new cards introduced within the Divinez series and has the Divine Skill, an ability that can only be used once per game! In general though, Rezael's skills are pretty generic since when he attacks, he can call two more attackers from the graveyard, giving Akina the extra boost to finish the game! However, this is where the Divine skill kicks in! During Akina's turn, he can return as many copies of a level 0 card back into his deck in order to gain more cards and refill his deck! Then, Rezael gains a skill that says "whenever you reveal that level 0 card during your damage check, you instantly heal one damage and continue the game!" which means Akina won't lose this game without a good fight! Very fitting for the boy of miracles!
AKIAKI KOUHAI MY BELOVED (PLATONICALLY)! MY SON MY BABY BOY MY CUTIE IOSJ FOIS I LOVE HIM SO MUCH GUYS! Akina is such an adorable protagonist to me it helps that he's very different from the other Vanguard protagonists! Unlike the others, Akina was already fully mature compared to the rest who were either shy, confident, or arrogant and needed to grow as the show continues. Akina was forced to mature due to his living situation, skipping out on a lot of things because of his love for his sister. Because of that, he often does whatever he can to take care of her and provide for her while his dad is working. Even when the antagonists attempted to corrupt him, Akina just...couldn't be corrupted. His desires and wishes were too pure to be corrupted. He's just a really pure boy, okay??? I love him a lot! He's kind of like a Disney Princess to me, you know? He's so pure and innocent like a Disney Princess! But because of that, it makes for some good character development during season 3 where he has to learn why he continues to play this game. Please watch Divinez- Akina is so cute guys seriously his smile can cure cancer and my depression-
Anyways, what about that bonus fic I was talking about? You may think it's just a birthday fic for Akina specifically, but you're wrong~! Actually, it's gonna be a fic for BOTH of them because I love them so much~! Plus, they share the same birthday and I think it'd be cute if they met and talked! AND in my development for the Precure x Vanguard au (which I'm still working on whenever I have free time), I headcanon that Honoka would use a Keter/United Sanctuary deck just like Akina! So I hope you enjoy~!
Honoka Yukishiro + Akina Myodo
"Yukishiro-san!!!!"
Yukishiro Honoka's head perked up as she saw that familiar boy running towards her. As Myodo Akina skid to a halt next to her, Akina did his best to catch his breath as he placed his hands on his knees before giving her a bright and pure smile. "Sorry I'm late!" he said with an awkward chuckle, scratching the back of his head. "My shift just ended…"
"It's alright, I understand." Honoka said, returning his smile with one of her own. "I just arrived here. Shall we enter?"
"Yeah!"
The two entered a card shop that Honoka was standing in front of as they wandered through the store. The store had posters of the latest Cardfight!! Vanguard packs as well as single cards locked within cases. Honoka's eyes widened as she let out an awe at how different the shop was from the ones she's used to. "It's very pretty here…"
"Isn't it?" Akina grinned, leading her past the many cases. "This place holds a lot of memories for me…"
"You learned how to play Vanguard here, right?" Honoka asked him. "I remember you told me about that."
"Mhm!" Akina nodded. "I met so many people here, and made so many friends!"
As the two sat down at one of the tables, both of them took out their deck boxes and placed them on the tables, allowing the symbols of their respective nations on the front of the box to shimmer in the light. As Akina shifted through his deck, he couldn't help but notice something, nay, someone was staying at him. "Yukishiro-san?"
"Sorry," Honoka let out an awkward chuckle as the middle schooler gazed upon the card on the top of his deck. "That card…"
Akina's eyes began to sparkle like the stars in the night sky as he showed her the card. "Rezael!" He grinned. "He's my favorite! He's so cool!!!"
"The Fated One of Miracles?" Honoka asked, a smile creeping onto her face. "I believe someone in my universe uses that card?"
"Eh?!" Akina's eyes widened as he glanced at his copy of Rezael then back at Honoka. "That's so cool! Can I meet them one day?"
"If any of us get the chance to travel to the other's world, then yes." Honoka giggled. "I think you two would get along just fine."
"I'm sure we would!" Akina nodded. "Rezael is really kind and sweet so his other partner must be too!"
"She is," Honoka spoke, placing her cards down on the table. "You said you wished to fight me, correct?"
Akina merely nodded. "It must've been fate that the two of us met! But no matter what, I promise to help you find your way back home!"
"Thank you, Akina-kun." Honoka chuckled. "But…" Honoka glanced over to her cards, gently brushing them with her fingertips. "I believe I know why I was brought to your world. Now then, let's begin!"
"Sure!"
"Stand up Vanguard!"
Her imagination was strong.
Stronger than those he had faced before.
It was already her fourth turn, and she had pushed him to the brink.
It felt like a strong burst of light that attempted to blind him, leaving no escape for him and his soldiers. Akina could only stand his ground and Rezael did his best to protect him, keeping him safe behind his arm. The knightly angel stabbed his sword into the ground as Akina took a deep breath, glancing at his opponent before her in all of her glory.
"So this is the power of a Precure's imagination!" Akina thought, his smile growing brighter by the minute. "This is amazing, Yukishiro-san!" Akina exclaimed as if he were a child that had found some kind of new discovery.
"Thank you, Akina-kun." Honoka sweetly smiled. "But I promise you, the fun will continue to become more exciting! My turn! Stand and draw!"
As Honoka drew a card from the top of her deck, she briefly nodded. "You're right on time."
With a deep breath, Honoka raised her hand into the air, holding a shimmering card that shone with pure white light.
"Before me stands the protector of both lights! Persona-Break Ride!"
Akina's eyes widened as the light formed around Honoka, slowly molding itself around her until it formed a new, holy being. A holy being with a blade made to burst through the darkness that would dare try to invade both of their worlds. The knight that stood as her protector stands before Akina with a nod of acceptance of his strength.
