Vampire AU… 👀 you mentioned a vampire AU… please enlighten the poor tumblr souls 🥺

Vampire (+others) AU: they're all still little kids running amok :3 surely nothing can go wrong

Two main covens: Roland's (the sunset dawn coven) and Edgar's (the ravenquills). Names pending probably. They're both constantly at each others throats Vampires get burned by the sun. Both covens approach this differently:

The Ravenquills hide from it, stereotypical vampiric recluses hidden in some abandoned library, fully nocturnal and staying in the shadows etc.

The Sunset Dawns embrace it, using it to their advantage to fight off other vampires, branding themselves through burn marks from stained glass/carved out windows. it's a cult what can u expect

Their ideologies conflict with Roland's coven insisting that monstrous traits must be repressed, held back, and that a "cure" exists if you follow their lead. They have a knack for finding newly-turned vampires who aren't sure of what's going on and have no memory of turning, and "recruiting" them to their coven. Roland loves doing this and helping people to feel safe with his family! No one tells him it's his own coven attacking people and causing them to turn in the first place.

Edgar's on the other hand radically accepts monstrous traits to the point they actively isolate themselves from "normal society". They're a safe haven for the weird freaks but they all keep to themselves, preferring their inner, isolated worlds than building any sort of meaningful community. They keep ravens as guides/companions, raising them from eggs (to mirror canon): they view ravens as more mature and well behaved, while crows are considered tricksters and wild and untameable. Edgar mistakenly took a crow egg when it was his time to find one but he sunk-cost-fallacys his way into proving Poe is a good worthy companion after he stops treating him like a raven and more like a crow :3

Monty and Kevin are caught in the crossfire of these two covens warring and i love them lots

Monty is a vampire from a coven who very distantly is related to werewolves, somehow: it's mostly ghost stories, most of the vampires don't believe it. Monty did, though, and always liked hearing stories about it, until one night he doesn't fully remember where a werewolf attacked his entire coven, leaving him without any family left at all. His grandma had connections with the Ravenquills through befriending Elias, and they had an unspoken promise if anything were to happen to either of them, they could rely on each other for help. Thus, Monty is sent to seek a coven he didn't even know existed, in a place he's never been, without any friends or family left… and ends up meeting Edgar on the way :3

Kevin on the other hand was abandoned as a baby on the doorstep of a witch's orphanage who takes in both supernatural and human children, to give them an indiscriminate, proper chance at life. Kevin presented as a human at the time, and so was given to a human couple who couldn't have kids of their own. He grew up vaguely strange but no one really knew why. Turns out he has siren ancestry: his words and tone unnerved people but it was never fully obvious outside of him getting into fights with everyone. After a huge falling out with his parents who reveal he was adopted and he should have stayed in that "creepy little orphanage" he runs away, and ends up meeting Roland, who is happy to introduce him to his coven and give him a place to stay!!! He's trying to convince Kevin the best choice is to get turned to join them fully, but as Kevin learns more about the coven and potentially uncovers some of their secrets, he realises he Really doesn't want to be here much longer
