Women’s leadership: From Kabul to Kiev
On,2016/03/11 I attended a talk with ambassador Meryl Frank, listening her real experiences in different countries, especially in Africa and Asian. In her stories, those women have different religious belief and cultural traditions, and she is a Jewish women born in New Jersey. She had actually never been to the Mideast before became an ambassador. But as a woman, she cares about the same thing those women who are in Kabul and Kiev care about, and she cares about them. She also said she was worried about that people would hate her and exclude her in Kabul because she is Jewish, but it never happened there. An example impressed me. When she arrived, she found that people there were playing some music, and she thought that must be a traditional music in Kabul. But it turned out that was a music from a Western film. So although individuals are different, oftentimes we still share happiness and sadness through sharing some cultural elements, it’s just people usually stereotype others, which make it’s hard to interpret each other.
