Playing around with typography, reflections, clipping masks, gradients and RGB split effect. I’m getting much more used to using the Photoshop shortcuts which makes things so much easier. I did a course on Photoshop before which didn’t use shortcuts and I now realise this is a rookie mistake. Also, never update your Creative Cloud at the beginning of a lab 🙃
I chose classic fonts for the first two cities as it was easier to manipulate the Eiffel Tower and Spire into the city name. I downloaded a brush font for NYC. As I got more used to using the tools I was able to get more creative.
Hello! this is an effect I see in a lot of artworks and that I use a lot, I tend to see new/younger digital artists (even others who are more experienced) asking me and others quite often how to do it but there doesn’t seem to be many tutorials for how to do it, especially not for Clip Studio Paint. I’m going to try to keep this simple as possible, cause it confuses tf out of me and i only just now learned how to do it in CSP lol
*This can also be/is usually done in Photoshop, but not everyone has photoshop, and there are already tutorials for it I think! Do what u gotta do!
FIRST you wanna start out with a picture/piece of art (works best when done on something that is only one layer!) and duplicate that layer three times! Do that by going to “Layer > Duplicate Layer” on the file tab, like this:
You end up with 3 of the same layers! You can rename them for each color they’ll be converted to (Red, Green, and Blue) if you want, but I didn’t. I think it’s important that they stay in the order of Red, Green, and Blue, Red being the top layer, Blue being the bottom, like this:
Not too bad!! Not done yet either =w= SO next, we have to convert the layers into their respective colors. Do this by going to “Edit > Tonal Correction > Level Correction” like this:
You should have a tab pop up like this:
To convert the layers to the colors they’re supposed to be, you drag that little arrow ALL the way to the Left, but don’t do it while it’s set to RGB!! You have to do it for the individual colors, so it will be like this for Blue:
Use that little drop down menu to select the Red tab, drag the arrow at the bottom all the way to the black end (0%), then do the same for green: leave Blue alone, so it’ll make the layer blue! Do this for the Green layer and the Red layers as well:
Good work! Now you have to set the layer mode/blending mode to ‘Lighten’ or ‘Screen’ (I used Lighten) and you do this like this:
The bottom layer doesn’t have to be set to ‘Lighten’, it can be left alone! Now you have to use the ‘Move’ tool to move the Red layer up/down/wherever a little bit, and move the Blue layer around! As long as you move the Red and Blue layers in opposite directions, you’ll get the right effect:
AAAND GOOD JOB YOU ARE DONE AND IT LOOKS FANTASTIC
It seems more complicated than it actually is imo; once you do it, it can be done in like a few seconds and the result is SO pretty (and somewhat painful to look at, sorry @ eyeballs) and you can do this to any picture or artwork!! Hopefully this was helpful enough and thorough enough so that it’s not too confusing!!
