Royd thoughts but just imagining him with a hero partner similar to Ironman with a nuclear reactor for a heart that gives them powers. Roy isn’t too savvy with bio medical stuff in particular but he does understand machinary and he's a damn fast learner. Him working with his partner on how to maintain the reactor carefully, Royd is one of the only people his partner truly trusts to help them with this and Royd is tremendously honored to have that trust. I imagine he gets super nervous first time around, this is his partners life in his hands in a way and he doesn't want to fuck this up but they reassure him and guide him with steady hands.

Sonic has been important to me since childhood, and I will always stand by him. The trailer made me laugh out loud, especially during the “Robotnik in charge” scene, and the bag scene was really funny too.
Sonic looks worse than I was expecting BUT I think certain face expressions just don’t do him justice, such as the wide-open mouth one everyone is posting. In some shots, he looks so frikkin cool! I’m fine with his body, just his face can look uncanny--the eyes are too human in shape and design, like in the first live-action Smurfs movies. But when he has a less unflattering expression and it’s not hyper close-up, he looks BAD-ASS.
I think with how much everyone had to go thru, the romance definitely was a slow burn for all of them. It was quicker for some compared to others, Columbina and Pierrot I imagine were almost to that stage of love before she died me thinks
Thinking abt Roy and his first few years in the Pheonix program, people say he doesn't have powers but he infact does! It's one of the qualifications you have to have when you're entering the program as a rehabilitated villain, but that could be entering headcanon territory.
Royd canonically has super strength and I have a headcanon that he started off as a dispatchee hero. As time went on tho, Blonde Blazer started to notice his knack for tech stuff and machinary and his interest in the engineering sciences. In turn, after discussion with higher ups, offered to help fund Royds education for mechanical engineering and being a physicists since Royd expressed interest in both, under the conditions that he keep working for SDN during his schooling. To which, Royd agreed because with the time he had with SDN as a hero, he's discovered that being a hero isn't something he wanted to continue as a career. He has the heart but it simply wasn't for the front lines of hero business.
But!! He still wanted to help people with his creations and SDN being willing to fund his education to make that happen? It's like a dream come true really.
Also, I keep rewatching the trailer because Sonic’s subtle movements and mannerisms are adorable. Such as when his nose twitches or his ears perk up. Adorable <3
Here is an in-depth look on Sonic’s movie design, why people don’t like it, and why you should give him a chance! This post gently points out flaws but it is overall positive, so you don’t have to worry about being stressed by more Sonic Movie negativity.
First thing’s first--why do so many people dislike the design? The main reason is because it’s different. We see something we are familiar with, altered in such a way that our brain rejects. Heck, when I first saw a thumbnail for the trailer, I was like “WHAT THE HECK?” but it only took me all of 2 hours to get used to him. I love him now! But take a look at this Lykoi cat.
It looks weird, doesn’t it? But why? It’s just a cat. Well, we are not used to seeing cats with such strange fur and a bare face. If someone had a pet Lykoi cat, they would get used to it, even though seeing it for the first time is quite bizarre.
Same with Sonic... we’re not used to seeing him with small separate eyes, a humanoid body, and realistic teeth. But we’re not mad at the Lykoi cat for looking the way it does. So why are we mad about Sonic? Because a cat can’t help how it is born, that’s just nature. Sonic’s design, on the other hand, was a decision made by people in charge. People feel mad because they COULDV’E made Sonic look better, but they did not.
But this isn’t the first time such a drastic design change was made to a fictional character. Imagine being an Alvin and the Chipmunks fan back when the live-action movie was first revealed.
Yes, the differences aren’t as drastic as Sonic’s because the Chipmunks weren’t as farfetched as an anthro blue hedgehog, but they were still made to be hyper-realistic with human eyes. But an interesting thing to note is that the latter two movies give the Chipmunks a more cartoony, brighter design than in the first two movies.
Maybe one day we will get another Sonic Movie with a more accurate design. Kind of like with Smurfs: The Lost Village! But moving on...
I think the only significant problem with Sonic is his human-like mouth. He has a cute, animal-like, hedgehog snout but he has human lips and teeth. It doesn’t go together, but I love everything else about his design and he looks perfectly fine in many shots of the trailer! I don’t think it’s fair to judge him based on the unflattering screenshot of him with his mouth wide open. It is just one unfortunate face expression. He looks so cool in other pictures, why not use the one where he is standing with his hands on his hips?
Imagine if an alien species wanted to learn about humans, but the first picture they saw of one was this:
The aliens might think “Ew, humans are ugly!” but that wouldn’t be fair. Sure, we can make silly faces and look weird sometimes, but it doesn’t mean we can’t look good too.
At the end of the day, the Sonic Movie is just a depiction of how Sonic would look if he were a real creature that could actually exist. And if that idea doesn’t appeal to you, it’s fine! There are still tons of Sonic media out there with the design you know and love. I’ve wanted a Sonic Movie ever since I saw the Sonic Heroes cutscenes as a kid, and while I would’ve vastly preferred an animated movie with all the characters, I’m very happy we got a theatrical movie at all and I know I will cry of joy when I see it. <3
