Which of your characters would you describe as the most traumatized? How open are they to this fact?
Aren't they all? Haven't I traumatized all of them in some way? Haha, okay, in all seriousness...
Rhianwyn has been through rough times. Not only did she have her childhood snatched (like Gwendolyn) through the witch hunt, watching her home burn, going on the run, and she was trying to protect her sister from their mother's vengeful plotting? This girl has major issues, lots of trauma she couldn't even begin to process as a child, and she's been groomed to be her mother's perfect tool for revenge. She'll never admit to it though. (She needs a hug, I'm sorry Rhia)
Then there's Acheflow, who literally sees everyone she touches die. Including her mom. I think that explains her, but she'll never say it bothered her even as a kid. She's pretty open about how it changed her life, so...
I could also say Tobias, but saying why would be spoilers I am keeping under wraps for now. Sorry!
Send me an emoji of your choice and I’ll give you a fact about an OC I relate to it!
☕ - Aria has an unhealthy love of coffee! She drinks much more coffee than water, and she offers to make up "work calls" to get Violet out of class to bring her coffee when Rosita cuts the caffeine budget (mostly because *someone* is draining coffee supplies in days instead of weeks)
✨ - Rhianwyn hates camping out. Part of it is because she likes the finer things in life, but a larger part of it comes from lying awake at night after fleeing their home, and hearing her parents (her father near panicking, and her mother obsessed with revenge) talk about their uncertain futures. Looking at the stars reminds her of those nights, when it seemed like nothing and no one would hear her cry, and she had no choice but to toughen up to protect her little sister from the dangers of the world... including their own mother.
Oh gosh... I think that would actually be Rhianwyn! Okay, here goes!
send me a 📚 + an oc for something thats changed about them since their conception!
So, Rhianwyn was actually the first character I came up with in my Frog Prince world! Her basic concept is still the same: Evil Queen, becomes the Snow White equivalent's stepmom, all of that. BUT, originally, she was a lot nicer and a lot more torn about what she did. Essentially, she was a lot more like Gwendolyn, her sister.
But two of that kind of character didn't really work, and I started making her a lot more ruthless in getting what she wants. I think it works a lot better, and it gives her a chance to develop and grow as she realizes that maybe the path she chose years ago wasn't the right one.
Plus, she's so much more fun this way, because she's more morally grey than the other OCs in the cast!
Send a song lyric: "There's a room where the light won't find you/Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down/When they do I'll be right behind you/So glad we've almost made it/So sad they had to fade it/Everybody wants to rule the world" song is Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Lorde, intense as hell
So, I heard this, and thought “why not play around with a Bad End idea?” so I did it! So, this came from a Storyteller Saturday a while ago, with some bad ends that seemed fun for this, so... here’s Bad End! Rhianwyn!
Send me a song lyric and I’ll write you a mini AU for my OCs based on that lyric
She was a pale reflection of what she used to be. A shadow, taunting in her affections and blind attachment. A shard of the mirror, standing behind her with an oblivious smile, offering her hand in peace and love.
Rhianwyn stared at her own reflection, at the eternally young queen who stared back at her. The world would bow to her soon enough, ancient magic awoken by the sacrifice of another, trapped and bound in the mirror to forever haunt her.
Alba watched from the mirror, a ghost of a girl who existed only in reflections of her inner self. Alba stood in the back, her innocence taunting Rhianwyn, whose reflection stood with tears streaming down her face and a bloody heart in her hands. The world burns, and all that was beautiful hides in the mirror where she could never reach it.
As the world bows and cowers in the face of magic, Rhianwyn doesn’t look away from the mirror that had controlled her life for so long… and as her soul burns, the surface cracks and breaks along with the rest of the world.
Sorry, this took longer than I meant it to! I did get something, so here goes! I may have leaned a little more towards the angst than the hurt/comfort, so I hope that’s okay! I’m going to put this under a Read More to keep things small!
7. “I didn’t mean to make you worry. I was just…trying to help.”
Where is she? She was scared of the dark; she wouldn’t go outside, would she? Not with the moon covered, not with the chance of owls, not...
Rhianwyn caught herself before she truly began to panic. Gwendolyn was a bit of a baby, getting scared of her own shadow, but it wasn’t as if she would get lost. Not within their mother’s barrier, which kept them in as much as it kept other out.
But she did manage to slip through it before. The whisper was there, not quite in her mind, not quite her own thought. It was just... there. She’s more than what she appears.
Rhianwyn shook her head, biting her lip hard. If she didn’t find Gwendolyn before their parents woke up...
Their mother would just leave her behind.
“Gwendolyn!” Rhianwyn hissed out the doorway, hesitating to go outside herself. “Gwen-”
Halfway through the call, her sister appeared from the side... as if from nowhere. Like a spirit, a shadow that came to life without being noticed. “Rhia?”
Rhianwyn grabbed her sister, pulling her into the house and a tight hug. “What were you thinking? It’s almost sunrise; if you didn’t get back before Mother woke up-”
“I’m sorry.” The apology was quiet, but firm in a way Gwendolyn wasn’t these days. Holding up a bundle of lavender, clumsily tied with a ribbon (and Rhianwyn groaned inwardly, seeing the mess Gwendolyn had made of her hair in the meantime), Gwendolyn bit her lip. “I saw... I mean, I heard... I didn’t mean to make you worry. I was just... trying to help. The smell always helped you sleep back home...”
Her words trailed off as her confidence fell, eyes fixated on the floor as Gwendolyn waited for a lecture. A scolding about how they were on the run, and it wasn’t safe, and if she had been found, they were all in danger.
Rhianwyn sighed, seeing the deflation and had to force herself to stand tall. Things could only get worse before they could get better, and one of them had to carry that weight.
And it would not be her younger sister. She would not allow it.
“It’s fine. Just don’t do it again.” Rhianwyn absently started plucking leaves from Gwendolyn’s hair, keeping her voice steady. “Just... stay close, alright? We’ll figure this out, and then sleeping will be easy, even for me. But... thanks.”
The look of Gwendolyn’s smile -the relief and joy in her eyes- was one that would haunt Rhianwyn for years... but it was also the one that had set her path in stone.
Nothing would hurt her sister. Nothing. Even if she had to turn into a demon, become a monster that everyone would fear...
She would make sure that smile was protected to the very end.
Hm, for the song title+artist thing, how about Am I Supposed To Apologise? By Maria Mena
Alright, first things first, this song is great, and I am going to just... listen to lots of their work now! Or like... after I'm fully done with the semester and I can obsess properly. Also, I have forbidden myself from using Violet as an answer anymore, because Violet listens to practically all music, so here goes!
Send an ask with a song title + artist, I’ll say which OC it fits and I’ll give you another song from that OC’s playlist!
Something about this song is giving me Rhianwyn vibes, so that would definitely go there! Now, the issue with Rhia, is that a lot of the songs she would like -and that I associate with her- are all instrumental. Honestly, I tend to lean towards Chopin when it comes to Rhia, although I've got a list of instrumental on Spotify too!
For something with words, Missing by Evanescence is another good one!
Happy STS! What would be your OCs dream holiday? ~loopyhoopywrites
Ooh, this is a good one! Let's see... random hat draw gives me Rhianwyn!
Okay, so Rhia is a bit more difficult, because she doesn't do specifics. Expensive would be one word to describe it; she wants to be able to go on expensive holidays, and go shopping and bring back souvenirs and not have to worry about expenses. She wouldn't want to be on a cruise ship, because she wouldn't want to have such a limited space, but she wouldn't want a specific city either.
You know though, a tour through Europe would probably be her thing? Not backpacking, but if she had a really nice way to just... go everywhere she wanted or thought about? She'd really dig being able to walk around, go shopping, check out a few historical sites... and Rhia would love being able to be alone when she wants, but able to jump into a crowd when she didn't!
happy Storyteller Saturday (@ambrosichor here) Hardest OC to write and why?
Oh, this is a fun one!
It changes a little depending on my mood, but I’d have to say Rhianwyn is probably the hardest to write right now. She’s just so overpowering in a scene; she demands the attention of the room, even if it’s just a conversation with one other person. It has to be known that she’s better than the other person, and she has to be seen as the one in the right.
But she’s also kind of a bundle of nerves, trying to fill unreasonable expectations and has given up pretty much all sense of her own self, which I’m trying to get across... which, since the story is only seeing her from other people’s perspectives is difficult. But I really like Rhianwyn, so it’s fun at the same time!
