Niall lowkey showed his true self in this moment. Not the terror he performs on the surface.

He put his weight into that punch.

You can see on his face that (just for this brief moment) he caught a glimpse of what it feels like to be Ruben.

To let himself act, unrestrained by fear.

He felt powerful.

He dropped the doe-eyed, lost in the woods look and put all his latent anger into that punch.

Even Ruben was momentarily shocked that he actually felt rocked by the power in Niall's punch.

And what's more, Niall shocked himself because he's been believing his own performance.

Test draw for a different hairstyle for Riall. I missed the long hair he had in his WoW incarnation. So, here is a draft for a new style. I may tweak it still. but I’m already happier with it.

Riall D’Addio - Son of Piethrien and Astrith D’Addio, older brother to Ailear. A quiet man of unassuming nature, Riall is observant and very concerned with keeping everyone happy. He acts as one of the security guards at The Mall and is on the strike force that goes out to cull Raiders that get too close. He also fills in as a trade negotiator when his father can’t. He’s close friends with Trian, and considers the Dufort kids like cousins. Even to the point of calling Lythia and Duncan as Aunt and Uncle. Family is everything to Riall.

I don't think Ruben will kill Niall. Ruben likes to tease, to fuck with people's heads, to languish in the power play.

Young Ruben tells Niall his little catchphrase "it'll all be over soon" and explains how he likes to see what his victims look like when they think they're going to die. Like when he threatens Niall's bully with the box cutter. He relishes in telling Niall how his bully thought he was gonna "stick it in him proper," but at the end he doesn't follow through with it. Although, he does give him a beating though to 'correct' his behavior toward Niall (a tactic he undoubtedly picked up from his father).

At the end of episode 1, Ruben uses the phrase with Niall right before he clamps his hand over his mouth and nose, leaving us on a cliffhanger. I don't think he'll take it all the way though. Whether through his own decision or someone else's intervention.

If we're alluding to their love story as Romeo & Juliet, who are star-crossed by their families and ends in both their suicides, then perhaps something will happen that "ends their lives" (as they know it). I don't think necessarily either of their deaths.
