I felt like it was implied that his actions were related to his abandonment/abduction, and I felt like they did a good thing more or less terminating his relationship with Gamora after the “pelvic sorcery” thing
yeah...i mean, i would believe more in it being intentionally implied if they'd given him any sort of reaction to gamora rejecting him because of his reputation. like even a nonverbal second of "oh shit i'm conflicted; what do i want?"
and also if it wasn't just...such par for the course with Morally Ambiguous Male Accidental-Hero types. it just feels like the default assumption the writers/directors/whoever make about Straight Guy Heroes. (which is because the default assumption about real-life men is that they want to have a lot of sex all the time and resent being in relationships. which is bullshit and pretty insulting because there is soo much more human variation than that.)
so i guess i feel like, even though i could make the necessary assumptions that tie his behaviors in with the rest of his character, the existence of that Casual-Misogyny-As-Default means it has to be a little more intentional-feeling for me to buy it? because otherwise i'm going to be confused about what level of awareness the writers were putting into it. if that makes sense? or maybe i'm just being an asshole? idk.

AHA ok that makes marginally more sense. so are they like, womens-clothing's response to how fucking everything is transparent now? is that why i can't find any shirts that are non-see-through enough to wear to work, because they just expect me to be wearing microshirts under them now? literally every time my anxiety comes up my parents ask angrily "what happened to you to make you this way?!" and I just freeze because I don't know and it's clearly my fault for not knowing ugh
omg ugh that's the worst i'm so sorry.
it's funny because sometimes when things are ok you forget and then (in my case right now) you miss a few meds and suddenly OH SHIT I DO HAVE ANXIETY.
(driving home from work with this voice in my head like YOU FUCKED UP YOU FUCKED UP YOU DEFINITELY JUST RUINED EVERYTHING and i'm like OK BRAIN WHAT DID I DO HELP ME FIX IT and my brain's just YOUUUU FUUUCKKEEDD UPPPPP and eventually i realize literally nothing has happened and this is bullshit.)
and that's what was so hard about describing those three-ish weeks of brainquest-xtreme-edition to parents, because they were like are you stressed at work? are you sad about something? are you lonely? and I'm like NO LITERALLY NOTHING IS WRONG BUT I CAN'T HOLD ONTO THAT CONCEPT FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES AND THEN I WANT TO BE DEAD AGAIN.
