It must be said that I am bisexual (usually male-leaning) and have had both monogamous and polyamorous relationships, so that does bleed into how I write most of my characters.
Riassa’s another case of being unfortunately straight. Not quite as straight as, say, Lyna, and less in denial than Ulla about finding women aesthetically pleasing/about the possibility of enjoying sex with women. But at the end of the day, she just doesn’t have an attraction to women in the same way she does to men. For whatever reason she does continually get clocked as being attracted to women though, and she simply cannot figure out what it is about her that gives off that vibe. She’s hit on by other women so often, and she always feels so bad about rejecting them because objectively they are attractive and she would love so much to be interested in having sex with/dating them but she’s just not. In a separate note, I’m not really including in this list people she seduces (or marries) as part of the job, even if that sometimes includes people who she is genuinely attracted to/enjoys the sex with.
Vector Hyllus
So Vector’s got this massive crush on Riassa as soon as they meet. She’s pretty, intelligent, cultured, relatively open-minded, polite and respectful of the killiks in a way he’s not used to from fellow imperials. She on the other hand barely takes notice of him at first. She likes him and all, but only as a friend, though she’s very aware that he’s into her. Attraction for him hits her kind of out of nowhere one day (they’re on Tatooine and have to spend a significant amount of time in close physical proximity for Plot Reasons), and from there she’s more than happy to reciprocate his feelings. After all, he’s the person on her crew with the most similar personality to hers, the most similar interests, they spend lots of time together, etc. Unfortunately by this point he’s written it off as a lost cause, and she starts to believe that maybe she was wrong about his feelings. Eventually they get it straightened out, but it takes them a while to get there. Even once it’s apparent to both that they do like each other, they both have their own issues to sort through in regards to personal autonomy before either is ready to have a relationship. He does struggle a little with jealousy, especially given that they start a relationship after he’s watched her fall in love with someone else and changed her name (see below) and also she literally gets married for political purposes while they’re together. He doesn’t get possessive jealous though, more internalised sad insecure jealous. This is a mildly important factor in how long it takes them to get together, and is emphasized by the fact that even just her name is a reminder that she’s loved someone before him (she does let him continue calling her Riassa).
Aristocra Saganu
This is Riassa’s first love. Meeting another Chiss after years away from home means a great deal to her. He’s handsome, sophisticated, educated, accomplished, charming, quite literally perfect in every way possible and he feels the same way about her. The only thing not perfect is their circumstances and their obligations preventing a long-term relationship. Chiss don’t really have a concept like marriage, but he does make her a merit-adoptive of House Miurani, after which she changes her name to Niassa (short for Miurani’as’sabosen) to reflect this, but still allows others to call her Riassa if they’ve known her a while.
Sanju Pyne
This is really not much more than a crush, it doesn’t have the opportunity to develop into more. She offers him the chance to join her crew after Balmorra, and had he accepted it likely would have blossomed into a relationship. As it stands though, all it is ever able to be is a date and a kiss. Difficult to know without more info on him what a relationship would look like in the long term, but it likely would have more rough moments than a relationship with Saganu or Vector.
Hairstyle references (not faceclaims) for Riassa. Very sleek, very sophisticated looks. She wears it down whenever she can, but always styled. She (literally) never has a hair out of place. A natural wave just subtle enough that her hair's considered straight, anything more she has to style herself. The lob varies in length because of Star Wars movie magic hair
