150 years ago - on 1st May 1876 - a snorting, thundering beast roared through the upper reaches of the Ribble Valley: it was the first passenger train to officially run along the 73-mile line between Settle and Carlisle, crossing the mighty Ribblehead Viaduct that spans Batty Moss below.

Huddersfield 13th May 2007 gone por Nigel Por Flickr: 13th May 2007 and an open day at Huddersfield station. 8f 48151 has operated the Settle Carlisle line many times. I have not seen this shot since I took it. With electrification this scene will change forever
