I have been eating almost the same food every day for a week, with only pancake porridge (previous post) and actual #pancakes (next post!) as a break. I want to empty my cupboards and fridge and come back fresh with new ideas! So what is in this bowl then? #Rice! It is a #wholegrain #basmati rice to be specific. Here served with dried fruits (#cranberries, #raisins, #gojiberries), #walnuts, slices of #kiwi and #quinoapuffs. I boil the rice and leave the dried fruits in the pot to make them juicer. It is hard for me to think of a cooked meal which could be easier to prepare! Some #ricetrivia: Did you know that in feudal Japan 🇯🇵, there was a unit of measure called '#koku' which was derived from how much rice one man would eat per year. Many samurai received their salary in this unit instead of ordinary monetary units. And on a total tangent, samurai means servant, and its written sign 侍 is composed of a person 🚶and a temple ⛩.
