re rick gore even though im late, i used to watch his channel pretty regularly when i didnt know much about horse care and he was very sexist. the most common remarks he'd make are pretty much "women are stupid and more sensitive around horses, they baby them and cant take good care of them bc they anthropomorphize horses too much" and would acknowledge he's being sexist and defend it. i also remember watching a video and i think a remark about transwomen being allowed in and winning beauty pagents[?] coming out of seemingly nowhere, i cant remember if it was transphobic or not but pretty sure it was considering how sexist he is.

Unfortunate, but not surprising.

This video has some great insights. Rick is very blunt and “offensive” to some people but if you can look beyond that he is giving out great knowledge for no charge. 

Jumping is hard on a horse’s body, I have always thought this but he does well putting it into words. I think small jumps are fine but show jumping level is just too much for me.

Rick gore popped up on my YouTube feed again and years later he still doesn't know how to edit videos and is still pointing his camera at his computer screen to record videos he does voiceovers for.

thoughts on rick gore?

Not a particular fan. His YouTube channel is mostly long-winded "life on the range" and "this is horse abuse and here's why" videos. He does educate people in a way that gets their attention, yes, but he's kind of a jerk about it and allegedly makes some shitty sexist comments (I did not care enough to dig through his videos to find sources, though).

While we do need more people with influence to educate horse owners and non-horse owners alike about what is abusive or bad training, his method is not the best way to go about it.
