They'd been out rather late, last night drinking ...🍸
(Mycroft deduced that without thinking)
But the next moment dawned,
Something else had gone on ...
When John smiled at him (almost winking!)

“they’re down.” Severus murmured as he flopped down on the couch. “Took three bedtime stories and two promises of pancakes in the morning but they’re down.” I chuckled as I ducked under his arm to curl up on his chest.
“they’re most definitely your children.” I teased as he sighed.
Taking You Captive
Hans Gruber x Reader
Summary: After being invited to a Christmas party at Nakatomi Plaza, you end up getting more than you bargained for.
⚠️Warnings: Death. Stockholm syndrome ??⚠️

You cowered on the thirtieth floor of Nakatomi Plaza.
You'd been invited by a friend to enjoy their company Christmas party. Little did you know it would be crashed by money hungry terrorists who would just as soon kill you as look at you.
Their ring leader, Hans had already picked off Mr. Takagi himself in an attempted to negotiate the code for the safe that had apparently contained a significant amount of bearer bonds.
When you saw his tall frame towering over the crowd as he clutched his gun with commanding aggression, something inside of you bloomed.
Something besides the ever present fear that you were also feeling.
As we walked through the sea of horrified hostages, he noticed your trembling frame ducking by the fountain behind Ellis, who, was attempting to woo you back to his office before all the commotion had broken out.
If you were honest, he was even more obnoxious then the predicament you currently found yourself in, though, less frightening.
Hans' gaze felt piercing to you as he stopped in his tracks above you, looking down on you.
You were unaware that something in him had also snapped once your trembling frame caught him attention.
Your soft, pleading eyes and gentle demeanor along with your delicate looking skin was almost enough to break him completely.
Your innocence was palpable to Hans, and he was then overwhelmed by a striking urge to make sure you were comfortable and safe.
He didn't want to see you scared. Something about it made his icy heart melt a little.
"You there. Up, now!" He commanded down at you.
You looked around, confused at first before looking back up at him.
"I said up! Stand!" He repeated as he bent down and grabbed your arm, lifting you up with him.
His grip on you was firm but not enough to hurt.
There were cries of protest as he guided you out the door and towards Miss Gennaro's office.
As he walked with you his grip loosened and he slipped his hand from your arm to your waist, pulling you close to him.
He smelled amazing. Like mahogany and firewood. The cologne of any distinguished suit and tie up to no good.
"Is this alright?" He asked gently as his fingers played with the bottom hem of your sweater.
You swallowed hard and nodded.
"Y-Yes Sir..."
He chuckled almost devilishly.
"Well. Trying to get on my good side are we?"
He shut the door behind you and sat down behind the desk, sitting you in a chair right next to him.
You cleared your throat nervously before speaking.
"Please don't hurt me," you uttered softly, looking up into Hans' hazel eyes.
He adjusted his walkie and a voice came through, muttering something in German.
"Perhaps, if you behave," he stated before replying to the man.
You took the opportunity to study his features a bit more.
His hair was shinny and already possessed hints of grey through his ashy blonde locks. Or were they brown? You couldn't tell.
What you did know was that every time his spoke in that deep baritone voice it sent a shutter down your spine and made your heart quicken.
Another voice came over the walkie. American this time.
It was John McClane, the ex cop turned vigilante that had been thwarting Hans' actions at every turn up to now.
As Hans spoke with him, you could sense the irritation hidden underneath his ever so cool exterior.
"Pain in the ass huh?" You asked quietly, trying to lighten the mood.
Hans jerked you into his lap, placing a hand firmly over you mouth as he continued his banter with the nusance of a man.
You shivered at the feeling of his hot breath on the back of your neck.
He turned the walkie off and brought his lips to your ear.
"I thought I told you to behave, unverschämtes Mädchen," he growled huskily.
His hold on you softened when he felt your body trembling against him.
"You don't need to be so afraid of me fraulein," he whispered again.
"You don't exactly roll out the welcome wagon..." you managed to respond shakily.
He chuckled darkly
"I am not here to welcome. I'm here to take and to kill."
You gulped, slipping out of his lap and backing away from him.
"Y-You mean me?" You asked, terror apparent on your face.
"I haven't decided," he replied half jokingly, his fingers grazing the barrel of the gun that sat on the desk.
It was only when he saw tears begin to spill from your eyes that he regretted ever saying anything.
It was odd. He'd never really felt remorse or regret for anyone except maybe the people he worked with, and even then it was regret for himself and not out of any sentiment for the person.
He stood up and made he way closer to you, causing you to back up into the wall, leaving you trapped by his body that towered over you.
"Forgive me. It was only a bad joke. I'm not going to hurt you, I promise," he reassured you, placing one hand above you resting on the wall and the other tilted your chin to look at him. "I may be a monster, but I can behave for once," he murmured, leaning down to get a better look at your face.
You were so fragile beneath him. So breakable.
He could take your life so easily right now. It would take nothing to snap your neck.
Your eyes looked up at him, still shimmering with wet fear.
God, he couldn't take it. Not from you. But why?
"What is your name? I never asked."
You were taken back. His proximity made your whole body shake. The warmth from his own body felt like it radiated off of him and into your very bones.
"Y/n. Y/n L/n." You rasped.
Even your name sounded so soft and delicate.
"Well, Y/n... I hate to be the one to tell you this, but your friends are going to die tonight. All of them," he said simply. Honestly. Not a hint of malice was present in his voice. He only wished to convey the severity of the situation.
He walked back to his seat and you stepped away from the wall, swallowing thickly.
"And if I leave, right now?"
A smirk played on his lips.
"I'm afraid I can not allow that."
Without another word spoken from either of you, you sat back down next to Hans as he carried out the rest of his plan.
He noticed you were beginning to nod off and he instructed that a blanket be brought to you at once.
You eventually fell asleep fully, your head falling on his shoulder defeatedly.
He wasn't quite sure what to do. He debated moving you, but the thought of waking you from you peaceful slumber bothered him.
Pretty soon, he was given no choice when Ellis swaggered his way into the office with the promise of delivering John to Hans on a silver platter.
Hans played along for a bit, offering Ellis a coke and humoring his little speech while getting on the walkie with McClane.
As you watched the whole thing play out, you weren't certain what exactly was happening. You did, however, know something felt off about the exchange.
It finally clicked what was about to go down, making you give Hans a terrified look.
"Sheiße," he muttered to himself when he realized he was going to have to murder this man in front of you.
He pulled you close to him, wrapping his arm around your head and tucking you into his chest as tightly as he could.
"Close your ears," he commanded sternly.
You did as your were told as tears streamed down your face.
You held your hands to your ears along with Hans who did his best to help with his hand and the crook of his arm.
"It's alright, Schatz. It'll be over soon," he murmured.
Then he aimed at Ellis and quickly pulled the trigger.
The shot managed to pierce your ears sharply and you sobbed into Hans' chest.
He placed the gun down and took out a handkerchief, ridding himself and you of the blood.
You caught the sight of Ellis's dead body out of the corner of your eye and jumped in surprise letting out a scared whimper.
"Hey. No. Look at me, okay. Don't look at him. Don't look," he commanded a bit softer as he finished wiping the rest of the blood off your cheek. "Someone get rid of this Scheiße! Schafft seine Leiche jetzt weg!" He shouted angrily at his men who quickly obeyed his command.
He wrapped both of his arms around you and held you close, rubbing your back soothingly.
"Shhh. Ich weiß. Ich weiß. I am sorry, but it had to be done," he said gently.
He waited for you to calm down a bit before getting back on the walkie and taking care of business.
"Hans?" You asked, barely above a whisper.
He took his finger off the button and looked over at you, raising an eyebrow.
"What is it?" He questioned a bit gruffly.
You picked at your fingernails anxiously as you tried to find the right words to say.
"Uhm... when this is all over. I mean, when your get the bonds from the safe... what happens to me?" You asked, afraid of the answer.
"Hadn't thought about it," he stated with a shrug.
He was lying.
"Oh..." you replied, staring at all the pictures that littered the back desk beside the window in disappointment.
Holly and her children. A picture that had been over turned had you a little curious.
"What?" He prodded.
"I was only thinking maybe I could come with you," you confessed, rubbing the back of your neck.
"I'm merely keeping you safe until it's over. Then you can return to your home and I will... well, I'll be off to my permanent vacation."
Another lie.
"I see," you responded trying not to cry for the millionth time that night.
He wasn't sure why he was allowing his words to betray his heart.
Maybe it was because he was absolutely petrified.
Surely he would screw up and you deserved better.
Killing and thievery was something he was an expert on, but he felt completely lost when it came to loving another person.
You could tell he was thinking too hard and you slid yourself into his lap, placing your hands on his chest.
"Look. Tonight has been... well interesting to say the least, but I've learned that after everything that's happened, I don't wanna be anywhere that you aren't," you admitted, heat rising to your cheeks. "I can't..."
He snaked his arms around your waist and pulled you flush to him.
"It has taken every ounce of power in my being to resist you all night," he spoke gently.
You leaned up to him. Your lips mere inches away from his.
"Then don't," you pleaded in a small whimper.
God, you'd be the death of him.
"And you're just okay with your friends dying for me to get away with all the money? I'm not a good person, Schatz."
"They're not my friends. I was only invited so Ellis would gravitate towards me instead of the girl who invited me. And I don't want you to kill them... I wish you wouldn't, but I can't live without you," you replied.
Hans could already tell the thought of all those people dying was shaking you up and he sighed.
"Maybe I can think of something a little less... violent."
Cops and FBI were swarming outside the building and Hans was up and checking his gun, speaking to his men and planning what to do next.
He took your hand and guided you quickly to the vault where Theo had almost had the safe cracked. All that was left was to plant the explosives which Hans had got to work on quickly.
After the safe blew, everyone stood in awe at the sheer amount of bearer bonds that were in the safe.
"Merry Christmas," Theo said to Hans in amazement.
Everyone began filling bag after bag of bonds, tossing them one by one in a pile.
"Alright, come on! Everyone! Now!" Hans shouted, grabbing some bags and your hand before running towards the exit.
"Hold it right there!" John shouted from Behind the two of you making you turn.
Hans was quick to drop the bags and draw his gun.
He gave you an apologetic look before holding you in front of him and putting his gun to you head.
"Drop it or I shoot her!"
"Come on. Don't do this Hans."
"Or what cowboy? What was that you said again? Yippee Ki-Yay Motherfucker..." Hans said before turning the gun on John and pulling the trigger before anyone could blink.
He put his gun away before taking the bags and your hand again, pulling you along to the van.
"Forgive me?" He pleaded apologetically.
"Only if you take me with you."

Locked In
The sky was only beginning to lighten, a pale blue creeping through the curtains. The hotel suite was still, the kind of quiet that comes after indulgence. Sheets tangled. Clothes scattered. A scent that didn’t belong to the room itself but to the hours spent inside it.
Y/n eased herself from the bed, careful step by slow step not to disturb the man beside her. Hans lay half on his back, one arm over his head, breathing deep. He looked almost harmless like this.
Her heels were by the dresser. Her bag by the door. Freedom so close Y/n could taste it.
Y/n slipped into her dress, zipped it silently, and reached for the handle.
His voice cut through the quiet smooth, accented, and far too awake.
“My dear… if you truly intend to leave, you should not wear perfume that lingers. It wakes a man before the sun does.”
Y/n froze. His reflection stared back at her from the mirror: eyes open, alert, focused. He hadn’t moved, but the air felt different charged.
“Running away?” he asked, voice soft like a threat wrapped in silk.
“Or simply leaving before you have to look me in the eye?”
