Finally made a reference for my self insert!!

Must clarify that although he is very similar to me, that he also IS NOT exactly the same as me lol, I promise you I wouldn't work with a woman who turned live animals into fashion accessories

Rambles under the cut!

After I saw @novazentryx's self insert I thought it would be fun to make my own!! And thus this goober was spawned

Ricky mostly keeps to himself, working with Donita because he likes the challenge! Though Donita's designs are mostly her own, Ricky is the guy that offers some quick pitches - providing concepts and sketches that she can then work off of (assuming she even LIKES what he has to offer)

Occasionally she sends him out into the wild for inspiration, hoping he'll find something of interest. I feel like this is where he would run into the Kratt crew, maybe watching from afar like "What the hell are these guys doing??" While sketching

Also introduction of a very one-sided crush lol, no idea if I will actually do anything with this in a potential story if this goes further beyond "haha it's silly!!" I think it would be funny to put him and Aviva in situations

One of the major issues with Ricky being in the wild/nature is how clumsy and skittish he can be, loud noise? BYE BYE!! Running off to safety. If something WERE to actually put him in harm's way, Donita has supplied him with his own posebeam! Though, he never really uses it.

Far from being a henchman, more of an assistant/'intern'. Took up the job because of his mild interest in animals, not realizing that Donita uses them for her own gain until way too late. Money is too good to leave, as well as concerned that he may be blacklisted if he works up the courage to split from her company.

Putting these here because I am not sure how to introduce it in a way that flows properly, but Ricky is a trans man! As am I lol, it only makes sense considering he is you know. My self insert! He also is a huge nerd with a weird sense of fashion. Mostly modest, but oh man! Those weird 70s tacky outfits? Plenty of em. In fact, here's my Pinterest board for him if you are interested! Full of inspo for him!

Okay that's all I've really got. Thinking of MAYBE exploring an avenue where he ends up becoming friends with the Kratt crew, but am not too sure on that. Maybe an AU of an AU lol

It had been a long time coming, Beatrice thought.

The last time she'd been in this position, she'd been very stressed and emotionally wrought, but now, now everything was perfect. She and Benedict were getting married on their terms and nobody was bossing them around. Their acquaintances were now dear friends and the home they lived in would soon have the sounds of growing children laughing and running about.

Ok first off, Ricky Brown is very bonita! My question is, what is his opinions on the other villains and the WK crew?👀🙏

Ooo!! Putting what I have to say under the cut, this got so very long

I feel like he is intrigued by the other villains! They do not really interact very often unless the circumstances call for it! - Dabio is her henchman, so he doesn't really need to go with her anywhere.

Though, Ricky likely would show up for appearances at her fashion shows! "Haha I had a hand in making this!" <- while also trying to stick to the sidelines.

Connecting with @novazentryx's self insert, Ricky is closer with the OTHER assistants than he is with the villains themselves! They absolutely know of and have seen him, just not as frequently.

I think the villains who'd see him the least are Paisley and Gourmand - not much for him to do with them other than stand around awkwardly lol. It would be like a "Teen Titans AND BUMBLEBEE!" Situation

Regarding the Kratt Crew, I feel like he likes them! obviously he likes Aviva lol

Ricky mostly works for Donita because she pays well and due to the creative freedom, but generally dislikes the mistreatment of animals. That separation from the act itself is what keeps him there, but given a significantly better opportunity I feel he would take it in a heartbeat. Not to say he does not like Donita! He simply does not like her animal cruelty.

Because of this, Ricky may feel more drawn to the WK crew! "Wow, I feel sort of bad for causing this..." - though he probably wouldn't seek their assistance outright. I would suggest that he could be a whistleblower, but that would ALSO put him out of work. Still a lot for me to think on here about his character!

Out of the crew members themselves, I feel like he would get along really well with Jimmy! That ginger solidarity <- JOKE LOL, but they probably would have a lot in common depending on just how much of myself I put into Ricky!

The Kratt bros would absolutely intimidate him <3 They seem like they'd be very over stimulating at all times

He would more than likely get along with Koki!! I do not see any reason why they wouldn't other than limited tech knowledge on his behalf, but the same would ALSO go for Aviva!

More on Aviva, since he is my self insert this is the biggest projection LOL - He would definitely get along well with her! They both are easily excitable and a little snarky at times. It's hard to describe exactly what he would like about her because it's weird thinking about it! It's from my AND HIS perspective, so putting thoughts into proper words is ultra complicated.

But uh! TLDR regarding Aviva: He thinks she is very silly! They would definitely jive well and bounce ideas off of each other.

This got so very long!! Apologies if it didn't make a whole lot of sense; Ricky is very much still a work in progress as a character! There's so much I've yet to actually figure out about him, especially regarding how much of a disconnect I want there to be between him and myself!

I also am very on the fence if I actually WANT or DO selfship with Aviva! A lot of wackiness going on there that I have yet to comprehend lol

Death stood over him, imposing and utterly terrifying.

He was silent for a long moment before he tilted his head to the side and discarded his scythe Benedict flinched, his heart still in his throat as the immortal offered him a chance to save Sophie.

Chose which hand I put her life in, was the eerie and silent question.

Benedict prided himself on being quite a logical sim and observant. But he knew he was shaking with fear of Sophie dying, and he chose the hand...

...that didn't have her life in it.

"NOOO!" he howled in despair.

I gave you a chance and you failed, came the taunt of Death. Deciding that he'd been here long enough, he turned and sent Sophie's soul to the spirit world, leaving her urn behind.

Benedict surveyed the people around him, wondering exactly what his employer had in mind for them all. He didn’t see anything particularly interesting about any of them. Most were irritated that they’d been carted here under either false pretences, or no pretence at all.

Many assumed they’d committed a crime which Benedict found very telling. Only the guilty assumed they had been caught.

All he knew was that he had orders and a pitch to give out to appease these strangers that compelled them to remain here. He hoped none of them were stupid enough to think about escaping.

“As I was saying” he told them, standing outside the asylum’s heavy oak doors. “You’ve been asked to be monitored, in a controlled environment for a social experiment. I have it in writing that you’ve all agreed to said experiment if you don’t believe me. Now, if you’re all done whinging about shit you can’t control, let’s head on inside. Make yourselves comfortable, you’re gonna be here for a while.”

Ignoring the fresh outcry of complaints, he turned and opened the doors to  walk inside.

No sooner had they crossed over the threshold, Jordan made his first move on the woman with the short black hair. He always liked it when women wore their hair short like that. 

He’d have made his move on the leggy brunette first if not for-

-their handler locking lips with her first.

For crying out loud! Nigel thought with disgust as he watched the blatant sexual chemistry in the hallway. Whilst he found all three women attractive, he knew better. He’d never had luck with the ladies all his life and didn’t fancy getting shot down in front of all his new acquaintances. 

“I didn’t expect that!” gasped Beatrice as Benedict withdrew from her. 

Benedict winked flirtatiously at her “You’re welcome to more of that, and more.”

Beatrice’s calm and cool demeanour came back over her “Next time you kiss me without my consent, I’ll smack you in the balls.”

"Hey bro...you alright?" Abigail asked her brother as he practically bounced out of the manor to greet her.

"Beatrice said yes!" Benedict said, almost singing with happiness.

"Yes to what?" Abigail asked, confused.

"I asked her to marry me, and she said yes!"

"Wait really?" Abigail asked, shocked. "I had no idea you were even asking her! Congrats bro!"

When Ricky reluctantly headed into the shower room, he saw Sophie standing there, sound asleep on her feet.

He heard her stomach growling angrily and he grew concerned. She looked dead on her feet and he didn't remember the last time she'd eaten.

"Sophie?" he asked hesitantly. "Sophie? Wake up! You need to eat something."

He poked his head out of the bathroom and shouted "Benedict! Can you come here a mo? It's Sophie!"

Benedict and Beatrice practically ran out of the kitchen at his words, looking concerned for their friend. Ricky's shouting had woken her up.

Sophie blinked, bleary-eyed "Wh-what's going on?" She clutched at her stomach "My tummy hurts."

"Soph, you need to eat something hun" Beatrice said. "I'll go grab you something."

But it was too late. 

No sooner had Sophie taken two steps out into the hallway, did she collapse to the ground, landing with a loud smack. Her head rolled to the back and she didn't open her eyes again. 

"SOPHIE!" shouted Jordan, his eyes wide with fear and filling with tears. "No, no NO!!!" 

Benedict felt like his own heart had stopped beating and a cold sweat broke over him.

No, not her. Please not her. 

Not Sophie, not his friend who felt like a daughter to him, who was always so kind and gentle, who was excited to move on with her life once they left here. He had to try to save her, to keep her heart beating. He needed to protect her. He couldn't fail.

He crouched down next to her and felt for a pulse, but there was none.

She was dead, or dying at the least.

He heard the others gather around and begin to cry in earnest. A cold chill permeated the hallway and Death approached, floating on an invisible cloud of grief and despair. 

"Please!" Benedict screeched, falling to his knees in front of the uninviting aura of Death's embrace. "Please not her! I'm begging you!"

Jordan felt like a zombie and he had to move into the bathroom, unable to see his beloved Sophie crawled up on the floor, still as a statue.

He had to be having a nightmare, Sophie couldn't be dead, she just couldn't be. Not his sweet and innocent Sophie, the sweet girl who he wanted to be with, who deserved a long and happy life.

Please save her, please, please pleease!
