“Sentences At Ft. Saskatchewan,” Edmonton Bulletin. March 13, 1919. Page 01. --- At Fort Saskatchewan Wednesday, Gordon Jenner, who broke jail at the Fort last December, while awaiting trial for defrauding a bank at Vermillion of $200, and who was afterwards recaptured, pleaded guilty in Judge Taylor’s court. He was sentenced to two years imprisonment for obtaining money by false pretences and to six months for breaking jail, the sentences to run concurrently.
Daniel J. McDonald, who escaped at the same time as Jenner, and who was caught again last week, also pleaded guilty and was awarded six months in jail, to take effect at the expiration of the interrupted term which he is now serving.
Riel Bonneau, who is said to be a nephew of Louis Riel of the rebellion, who held up and robbed four men in a store in the Vermillion district of $118 recently, also pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years in the penitentiary.
George H. Jackson, who robbed hotel rooms at the Fort, was given three months by John Paul, J.P. When arrested he was wearing a pair of gloves belonging to Judge Taylor, which had disappeared from the hotel.
