kakashi always said his 'see you later's and 'i’m home' when he would leave or come back home. even after his father passed away, and nobody was there to hear him anymore.

this habit followed him into adulthood. as he left his family home and moved into his apartment alone, he kept on muttering those words as he passed the door.

"i’m home."

so when, for the first time in years, he heard a response, it actually startled him.

"welcome back."

he stilled, eyes wide and foot still in the air as he was taking his shoes off. his head abruptly turned to the side, and he almost fell down on his ass at the sight of someone laying on his bed.

"did i scare you? sorry…"

right, kakashi had nearly forgotten that he gave you a spare key when you spent the night yesterday. you were taken aback by his offer, staring at the silver object in his hand with wide eyes and an opened mouth. you took so long he almost took back what he said and told you to forget it, but you quickly kissed his worries away with a beaming smile and squealed your 'thank you, i love you's in his ear.

"kakashi? is everything alright?"

you cautiously got up at his lack of response (and movement) and met him at the entrance. he approached you as he took off his headband and jacket, before he grabbed your cheeks with a smile and stared with eyes that screamed affection.

"were you waiting for me?"

"mmh, finished early."

"good. now i get to have you all to myself."

I shouldn't have to tell you not to respond to random text messages claiming to be from protest organizers or petitions for causes you might agree with, right? You already know that just because a message says it's from your state rep or senator or candidate, and they just want to confirm you had a great time at the protest or rally or whatever-- you already know to not engage and to assume it's a hostile actor who got your data from any of a thousand sources, right?
