i just had the worst thought process ever (major onyx storm spoilers)

My 4th-5th Book Predictions: The New Six

so i was thinking about the whole idea of there being a new 6- 6 of the most powerful signets, one of each type of dragon, and I was wondering who it would be

For the 6, I would definitely include Violet (ofc), but I would also definitely include Aaric because he’s a precog, and if Aaric is included, he’s the representative for the blues- NOT XADEN

(i’ve been doing my best to ignore the whole lynx thing with manifesting shadows because im gonna cry)

And then it makes sense for Lynx to represent shadows, but that made me think- if there’s another shadow wielder in the story it makes sense for Xaden to lose his shadow powers at some point

I hate that theory and I’m literally going to be sick, but it makes sense to me (unless Lynx is killed 🤞)

But back to the theory of who is the Six

Black

Violet (Lightning + main character)

Red

Sloane (Siphoning is rare (could counter Naolin / even venin in general), OR it’s Dain and we find our he’s a full intinnsic

Green

Mira (if she can develop her warding), Rihannon (summoning is a rare signet, and it could potentially counter Garrick’s distance wielding if he’s venin)

Blue

Aaric (True precog), possibly Xaden (Shadows + Intinnsic)

Orange

Brennan (exceptionally powerful healer) or Imogen (Memory wiping is more powerful than we thought- I mean, 12 hours wow, + her earth wielding)

Brown

I think Lynx has a brown dragon, if not- Garrick is a possibility (Distance wielding is very rare)

Irid

I have honestly have no idea how this will work with Andarna leaving

Despite its flaws, I loved Fourth Wing & Iron Flame...

but holy hell is Xaden boring. I haven't been as uninterested in a character in a long time. He's the standard male love interest of YA fantasy, hunky with dark hair and cool tattoos and he can weave shadows because he's dark and mysteriousTM but also! also! he also has the rarest signet because he's super duper special. Now, I am all for using and reinventing tropes, but Xaden is completely interchangeable with characters like Rhysand or any other guy. Like at least Violet is an interesting character even with all her mary sue-ness. Xaden is just plain and has a ridiculous name to boot. How am I supposed to take seriously someone named Xaden? I ended up dubbing him mentally as 'Aiden' because at least it's not as cringy.

I'm team Rihannon x Violet, or Violet x Cat because their fighting about Xaden was way more interesting than Xaden himself.

No hate to the author or to those who like Xaden, this is just my dumb opinion.
