❛ i was worried something happened to you. ❜ @rileym4tthews
Maya wasn't a kid anymore and yet her safe haven would always be that window sill in Matthew's home but even she couldn't find comfort there at this moment in time. Maya skipped the last-period class to come home ( Riley's home ) because of a killer headache pounding like a tap dancer was making a beat on the front of her head.
The internet told her that it was from stress which makes sense because Katy wouldn't be able to make the rent this month and there wasn't much food at home to eat a full meal. The only good thing is that the Matthew's house had an open-door policy and would feed Maya a good meal any time that Maya is over. It doesn't save her mother's hungry belly but it was something.
Maya laid across Riley's bedspread with a washcloth on her face to block the sunlight from her eyes. BAM ! The door opens hitting the wall behind it and Riley's normally comforting voice comes through. ❝ I'm fine, Riles. ❞ Maya assures her friend in a soft and smooth voice. ❝ I just needed to come home. ❞
As much as Maya wanted to lift her head to look into the ocean blues of Riley's soul it simply was not the right choice. Maya's fingers pat a spot next to her on the bed. Riley's bed was the perfect level of firm to soft for Maya's taste. Maybe it's because she is used to Riley's bed. The sound of her own voice sends a shiver down her spine and a soft moan from the back of her throat.
